Re finding your old threads -

As Chris says - "Tools", then "My Threads".
But after that, look at the paragraph at the top of the list of threads, and select "My Threads - Started". Assuming you've sometimes contributed to other people's threads, that will weed out all the threads which are nothing to do with your own searches.

If this were my search, I'd be inclined to buy a copy of that 1902 death cert posted earlier by Erika.

If there is ever a chance of exchanging certificates or copies of parish records with people researching DUXBURY in the same area, you may be able to compare signatures and see if any match up.

A friend was able to do this and successfully matched a James in her family, who married first in Newcastle area and as a widower married a 2nd time in Southampton.

If you look to left of page here, see heading 'Tools'...(then underneath) My threads...
That should help to find them.

Unfortunately it seems such a common surname!, and as said before, quite a few Thomas, with Father as John on below...(so can see the frustration of situation!)

We have to live in hope, with brick walls, lol...

The census info would normally have been provided by the head of the household. It is very unlikely that Jane would have been consulted.

She hasn’t definitely been found after 1881, and I can’t, as yet, see Samuel either

Shirley

Shirley Report 18 Mar 2018 17:22

Yes i thought that ..well done for finding her. You would think that she would put Jane Jennings for her marriage certificate and tattersall on all the census. As marriage cert usually more official. Samuel when on the 1881 was called Samuel Duxbury :-S

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 18 Mar 2018 16:08

She seems to have been brought up as, and known as, Tattersall:

Jane Tattersall
in the 1861 England Census
Name: Jane Tattersall
Age: 10
Estimated birth year: 1851
Relation: Daughter
Father's name: John Tattersall
Mother's name: Sarah Tattersall
Gender: Female
Where born: Lankshire, Oswaldtwisle
Civil Parish: Oswaldtwistle
Ecclesiastical parish: Emanuel
County/Island: Lancashire
Country: England

Sarah Tattersall 30

Joseph Tattersall 8

John married her mother when Jane was only two, so she would never have known any other father.

Perhaps the question should rather be - why is she Jennings in 1871 census, and at Samuel's birth in 1870, when she's Tattersall everywhere else?(Apart from at her own birth)
Maybe something to do the fact of having an illegitimate child??

Shirley

Shirley Report 18 Mar 2018 14:15

Strange that birth of both her children Samuel and Sarah ann say mothers maiden name Jennings ..but she married as Jane tattersall . Not figured that one out yet . :-S
