Tracy, I'm sorry, I think I'm going to leave this.

The James Hooley in Manchester in 1851 was born 1781 in Cheadle Cheshire- he was listed as a Chelsea pensioner. I don't see the connection?

I'm not sure you are understanding the information I've posted about James Hooly's wife, Elizabeth, possibly remarrying Michael Lancaster in 1821.

I'm finding it a little frustrating, but I'm not sure how to explain the information differently. Perhaps someone else will help, or you might look through the information again?.

Good luck with your research.

AustinQ

AustinQ Report 21 Apr 2018 13:46

But where did you get the ages of Elizabeth Stockdale and James Hooley from?

EDIT: I suspect you are still looking at the wrong 1851 census. Did you see the information above?

Tracy

Tracy Report 21 Apr 2018 13:32

Well done, AQ - managing to make sense of it all!

So just to be clear, Tracy -
The couple living in Ardwick and Cheshire, with son Lawrence, are definitely NOT the right family.
The age of 90 for that James in 1851 is a mistake in transcription - he was actually 70. Wrong age, wrong occupation, wrong place.

AQ has listed all the ins and outs of the correct family.

Tracy- I'm having trouble following the 'facts' you have.

I feel you are too easily dismissing the information I posted above.

You wrote:
"different one i think anne hooley her daughter born 1819 wrong age on census , and no early death record for james . mystery"

- Note that census ages cannot be taken as fact

- Just because you haven't found evidence of James death doesn't make them the incorrect people.

In 1841 Elizabeth & Joseph Wingfield are living here in JONES STREET:

This is all too confusing.
Time I was in bed.

That doesn't feel like the right family to me, though.
Unless James was an army surgeon, it seems doubtful that he would later be a servant and then a Chelsea pensioner.

We can only work from the info you've given us, Tracy.

You didn't tell us you'd found Elizabeth's birth in Liverpool (at least I assume you mean Elizabeth Stockdale's birth?) - nor that James was in London.

He was apparently in Liverpool in 1814 for his daughter's baptism.

Please can you post the records you found?
