Am wondering if these below mentioned earlier are the same person?...(perhaps Southampton Archives might have something more on him, a Service Number would help)

I believe that a record on this page is open when it ought to be closed (ie, a person is still living).
I am searching for information about myself in the 1939 Register (or on behalf of someone living).

Just an outside thought, if she was born Oct 1909 or poss 1910, and reg in the Dec qtr Winthrop st should come under Whitechapel ...only female with Jewish name? no father's surname given.

The family of Florence Louisa Smith said she was Jewish and lived in the Jewish section in East London. I am still trying to find the correct Florence Louisa Smith so that I can order her birth certificate , . I am looking at the possible half siblings to help establish this. Thank you Pam

Chris Ho :) Report 3 Aug 2019 16:53

Where does the Jewish connection into family, as mentioned by you earlier in 'Thread'?...

Just found Cyril Walter Smith born 1910 ( the one year old with Clara Smith on 1911.census) living in 1936 at 31 Stratford Road Luton with Phyllis Maud Smith (nee Raymond) this is the same address given on the marriage certificate for Frederick William Wildman Smith, so can begin to pull this together. I hope. Thanks Pam

What was Edith's father's name on the marriage cert?

On the face of it, this should be her birth and death:

Edith Violet Ashwell
in the London, England, Church of England Births and Baptisms, 1813-1917
Name: Edith Violet Ashwell
Baptism Age: 0
Record Type: Baptism
Birth Date: 24 Nov 1911
Baptism Date: 14 Jan 1912
Baptism Place: St John, Worlds End, Kensington and Chelsea, England
Father: Percy Frederick Ashwell
Mother: Sarah Ashwell

Edith Violet Smith
in the England & Wales, Civil Registration Death Index, 1916-2007
Name: Edith Violet Smith
Death Age: 80
Birth Date: 24 Nov 1911
Registration Date: Feb 1992
Registration district: Luton
Inferred County: Bedfordshire
Volume: 9
Page: 501

Yes, that's her.
Here are Frederick and Edith in 1939, badly mistranscribed:

Frederich W Edith O Smith
in the 1939 England and Wales Register
Name: Frederich W Edith O Smith
Gender: Female
Marital status: Married
Birth Date: 24 Nov 1911
Residence Year: 1939
Address: 4 Felstead Way
Residence Place: Luton, Bedfordshire, England
Occupation: Hat Milliner
Schedule Number: 183
Sub Schedule Number: 2
Enumeration District: DPPB
Registration district: 178-2
Inferred Spouse: Frederich W Smith [ Frederick on image ]
Household Members:
Name
Frederich W Smith - motor trade sheet metal worker, 2 March 1911
Frederich W Edith O Smith
Edith D Percy F Ashwell - [ Percy F Ashwell - Edith D scored out ]
Percy F Sarah J Ashwell - [Sarah J Ashwell - Percy F scored out]
Sarah J Ellen Hills - [ Ellen Hills - Sarah J scored out ] 25 June 1875, widowed
Ellen Rosemary Hills - [ Rosemary Hills (later Hardy) - Ellen scored out ]

Edith's entry originally said Smith, Frederick W, then Frederick W was scored out, and Edith V put in instead.

Her parents' entries , and the two Hills, are similarly corrected after wrong names were written first.

Rosemary Hills, later Hardy was born 1935. I haven't posted her DOB, as she may still be alive.

Re Frederick William Wildman Smith -

on 29th July, after your previous mention of him, Rambling posted the 1911 census showing Clara with her parents, and an unnamed male child born Riseley 1911.

What else do you want to know about him?

You'll never know who his father was, as father's name isn't on either birth or marriage certs.
