Looking for any info on Robert Nelson from the North East,probably Durham area.Married Margaret Herdman in 1939. Had 3 children,Robert ,Vivien & Jean.Any info much appreciated,especially prior to 1940..

Any idea of when Robert and Margaret were born? They should be on the 1939 register.

The marriage cert would verify ages, and give parents' names for further research.

This can't be the correct one I'm afraid.They didn't marry until after the date for the 1939 register & would probably be too old to have had children in the 1940s? THANK YOU though.They would both be single on the 1939 register.

The 1939 register was compiled in September 1939.

They married before that.

The Margaret I posted was born 1906 (though I don't see her birth if she's Margaret Herdman - but DOBs are often wrong on 1939 register), and would only have been 33 in 1939 - quite young enough to have children in the early 1940's.

I think you need the marriage cert, for ages, Robert's occupation, and parents' names.

FreeBMD has the 3 children born 1941, 42 and 43.

Apologies,I thought,wrongly, the 1939 register was taken on March 31st.This could well be them?

If you have any details of their deaths then it will give at least an age or after 1968/9 a year of birth,to compare with the 1939 findings.

Possible death of Robert?? Assuming they continued living in the Gateshead area.

Felling is part of Gateshead.

Got the marriage certificate this morning:-
Robert is aged 46,a widower (which I didn't know) He's a coal miner.He's living at 3,South Street,Felling with his new wife.His father is given as John Thomas Nelson,retired boiler fireman.
Margaret Herdman is aged 32,a spinster also living at 3,South Street,Felling.Her father is given as John Herdman,a road labourer.
The certificate hasn't been of much use (yet) as I still can't find any more info on Margarets birth or census info.
Any help much appreciated.
