No sign anywhere of a marriage between William and Emma

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 8 Mar 2020 15:54

As William was Irish, Byrne is a feasible spelling of his surname

I've used a few credits on Scotlands People to look at Charlotte's birth record (as posted by Rambling) .

It comes under Catholic births, but the parents' religion is stated to be "mixed" - ie - one Catholic, one not.

"Munore" looks like Munroe to me, and "Ellenor" looks more like Emmer or Emma.
The handwriting's not the clearest!
The mother of the child on the line above was called Ellenor, and it looks as if the clerk has started writing Ellenor again by mistake, then corrected the two l's to an m. The end of the name is definitely either "mer" or "ma".

If it were my search, I would be satisfied that it's the right record.

17/8/1851 is the date of birth, and 24/8/ 51 is the date of baptism.
The sponsors ( ie - godparents or witnesses) were John and Margaret Donnelly.

If you register with SP and buy a few credits (minimum 30 credits for £7.50), it will cost you 6 credits to look at it yourself, and print a copy.
Church Registers; then Births & Baptisms; then Roman Catholic Church; then Charlotte Burns 1851. No need for any other search terms.

I wonder about this family, father was from Scotland ( I think his occ' reads as Indep' Minister ) but the children aren't , there is an Emma and also a Henrietta, mother being Charlotte 'might' account for name of first child to Emma and William?

Might be worth looking into.
