yes Thankyou, that was probably it. Or maybe he and his wife split and he went away to move on. :-(

I expect he went for the sake of work, possibly seasonal at the hotel.

Thankyou. got the death certificate and he didn't die in prison but was working as a porter in a hotel. No Idea why he was in isle of man. But he didn't die in prison. He had diabetes. His dad John was there at the time so he may have been poorly in hosputal for a time.
Thanks for all the helpful info :-)

The one who died in Bradford in 1987 had no second forename, and his probable birth was given to you on page one

To find where on the Isle of Man the prison is……google

Shirley

Shirley Report 13 Apr 2023 23:03

does anyone know where the prisons are on the isle of man and would it be normal to imprison there someone from the UK? :-(

Shirley

Shirley Report 13 Apr 2023 23:01

thanks for that I've sent for the certificate. I wonder how he got back to the UK, would it be aboard ship? I did hear rumour he was in prison in the isle of man but may be wrong about that one too. I'll maybe find out once the certificate comes.
Thanks again :-)

Findagrave website says the date 19 Sept 1945 was the date of burial - not the date of death.

I'm confused now. Soneone else has found a death for a Francis William sanders in 1987 in Bradford. He was the one born in March 1914.. So we're there two Francis William sanders? I'm now very confused :-(

Shirley

Shirley Report 13 Apr 2023 19:58

strange that Francis William sanders was on the census of 1921 twice at two different houses. Was that common for thst in 1921
so do you think the body was brought back to Manchester and buried there. .

Shirley

Shirley Report 13 Apr 2023 19:31

thanks so much for finding the death of Francis. Alice was only 16 when they married and Francis was only 18 so very young. The child Sheila kathleen sadly died aged around five years old I think after a fall which must have been traumatic :-)

Shirley

Shirley Report 13 Apr 2023 19:27

so I guess Alice was told that Francis William sanders had died in 1945 so that's why she did not marry Anthony ward until 1947 Despite having a child with him in 1941. Is it possible to get death certificate from Isle of man easily enough? :-)

Shirley

Shirley Report 13 Apr 2023 19:25

oh wow thanks for all this. I'll find out if the second marriage cert is available. I know Alice had a child leonard sanders but then ch nged to leonard ward in 1941 in Hemsworth. So we think Anthony is the father and it actually says so on the second birth cert. When we applied for the first one under the name leonard sanders they were told it was cancelled :-(
