Member Since: October 2004 Posts: 863 Send Message	I would appreciate some help please. Looking for a marriage of a William Camber b 1795 -98 Orpington to Sarah b 1801 Orpington. By 1841 they were living in Eynesford Kent. 1861 states name Kember. Their son Henry was listed as Coomber in a later census . Found a death for William in 1861 but no death for wife Sarah. Many thanks

Member Since: May 2006 Posts: 6,522 Send Message	William & Sarah are in a lot of Ancestry trees but no one seems to have Sarah’s maiden name. Several of the children are born after 1837 so Erika’s advice on using the GRO to find the maiden name is worth doing. Looking at the various census Sarah’s age seems to differ. In 1861 she appears to be 11 years younger than William, yet it is only about 8 years in 1851. added: Most of the Ancestry trees are from one source with William born 1801 Wrotham. so probably the wrong one.

Member Since: July 2005 Posts: 10,496 Send Message	There is a Church - St Martin's in Eynsford, under the Benifice of Eynsford with Framingham and Lullingstone - their Office No. 01322 863050 - who may be able to look up burials in the Churchyard or Contact Kent Records Office who may do a look up for you - 03000 413131. they may charge. However post 1871 wouldn't be too early for a Cremation although more unusual

Member Since: October 2004 Posts: 863 Send Message	Thank you greyghost,re possibly a mothers name of Lockyer for the children, actually I did find a marriage just yesterday of a William KIMBER ( not Kember) to a Sarah LOCKEY in Croydon 14 Dec 1825 and did wonder because being 1825 and the 1st child being born in 1833 which would be 8yrs difference , I kind of ignored it. On the other hand Croydon is not too far from Orpington, so you finding mother of LOCKYER there could be a strong possibility that this could be their marriage ,

OR either could have been married before. The children's birth registrations would have the Mother's maiden name not that under which she married. George born 26.1.1835 baptised 24.2.1833 Eynsford St Martin to William Camber a Labourer and Sarah of Croken Hill James William bapt. 14.3.1835 (one variation of record has William James). He was buried 9.4.1837 at Eynsford age 2 Henry bapt. 20.10.1839

	As Sarah was living in Dartford in 1871: ??? Deaths Jun 1874 (>99%) Kimber Sarah 75 Dartford 2a 220 Age stated at death is only as accurate as the informant's knowledge/belief.
	Researching: Old genealogists never die.....they just lose their census.

Member Since: October 2004 Posts: 863 Send Message	Looking at the information that Maddie has found,there seems a few coincidences with William and Sarah Kember. First the witness Sophia Kimber at their wedding in Croydon, William and Sarah had a daughter called Sophia Sarah Patience also a son John Thomas. Looking on post above that Maddie found her father was called Thomas Kember his daughter being Sophia b 1811 so this could be William was the son of Thomas. see Thomas Kember got married in 1796 Orpington so feel this is the family I need. All the spelling of their surnames is very confusing. .

Member Since: October 2004 Posts: 863 Send Message	Hi AG, Thankyou for finding the death of Sarah, no wonder I couldn’t find it being under the surname Kimber, Wished I knew what the correct name the family are. Think it is Kember . Eynesford is in the Dartford district.so it must be Sarah. Hope all is OK with you, long time no contact, nice to know you are still on here doing your bit.
