I need to send for a marriage certificate. The marriage took place in Chorlton. What registry office do I apply to? |

You can get the cert from the GRO |

If you don't know the actual church the marriage took place, you would be better to find the marriaage reference and order online from the GRO at:- |

Usually about a week, but sometimes when "Who Do You Think You Are" is on TV then it takes a bit longer because everyone suddenly gets into family history. |

I think you can order by post with a cheque but it will cost £8.50p instead of £7. |
