My Great Grandfather Allan Segers was born in Colchester in 1867 and he married my Great Grandmother Minnie Stokes born in Manchester 1870. They moved around quite a bit. I know my G Grandfather died and my G Grandmother remarried. G Grandfather was a shipping agent and the only death I can find is in London in 1901 although in the 1901 census they were living in Leamington. I have found two records of marriages for a Minnie Segers - one in June 1904 Southwark and another June 1905 in Lambeth. My grandfather spent a lot of time in a sanatorium as a child as he had TB but he met and married my grandmother in London so that would seem to the family base eventually.

Can anyone help with this please.

Thank you

Christine

An absolute pleasure

I'm stuck indoors with the 'lurgy' on this glorious day, so I needed something to cheer me up!

Christine

Christine Report 18 Apr 2018 15:36

Well I hope you feel better soon.

As an aside I was told that my Grandfather Albert Segers had a half sister called Minnie. I don't suppose you can find a Minnie Wright?

Regards

Christine

Thank you, Christine

In 1911, Minnie says she has had three children, of whom one has died.

Those would be the Segers.

So the next step is to see if she married again - although she'd be getting a bit old for childbearing

There a cousin Minnie Segers on 1901 census - perhaps that's who he knew?

That is definitely her - how sad.She never married and devoted her life to the Salvation Army. There is a photograph of her at my parents wedding. When she died my sister was very ill so my mother did not go to the funeral and my grandfather was in ill health so I went to represent the family. As I was quite young I did not really take all the details in although I remember how kind all of the Salvation Army people were. My grandfather made a donation to the Salvation Army.Thank you for finding her at least she can be remembered now.

Kind Regards

Christine
