Canada is very strict about recent BDM's online - there probably isn't anything much left for us to find.

Iola's sister Donalda (transcribed as Deanelda in 1921 census posted earlier):

Donalda (clarke) Halls
in the Web: Obituary Daily Times Index, 1995-2012
Name: Donalda (clarke) Halls
Age at Death: 87
Birth Date: Abt 1916
Death Date: abt 2003
Death Place: Guelph ON
Publication or Record Date: 17 Feb 2003
Publication or Record Place: United States

Mrs Donalda Halls
in the Canada, Voters Lists, 1935-1980
Name: Mrs Donalda Halls
Gender: Female
Occupation: Secretary
Year: 1965
Location: Wellington, Ontario, Canada
Electoral District: Wellington South

With Grant Halls, crane operator.

But I have no idea if they had children or not.

Donalda's husband's obituary here. It mentions 2 sons:

Hi when you said 2 sons in brackets after David halls ,from Guelph , name says ( Robin Lee Norris ) then other sons name Brian halls of Kitchener .why do you think robin lee norris in brackets .thanks

ArgyllGran Report 26 Jun 2018 20:38

From the obituary -

Robin-Lee Norris is the name of David's wife.
Brian was not married at that time.
Jen is Robert Halls's wife.
Jon Murdoch is Christine (nee Halls)'s husband.

Hi do you think( robin lee norris) is a solicitor David halls wife I could maybe contact her assee her on line is

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 26 Jun 2018 22:38

Yes, she seems to be a solicitor.

If you contact her, it will be best to either write or email, so that you can take your time, and think clearly and carefully what you want to say.

Frank and your grandmother had your father in Scotland. I assume they weren't married.
Then Frank left Scotland and eventually married Iola, who was Robin-Lee's husband's aunt .
It's rather convoluted, and Frank's Canadian family quite probably have never heard of the existence of your father.

You need to word it carefully.

Hi yes I would be careful in how starting up conversation as could be difficult such long time ago , will email first asking to get husbands email, to tell him first .
Thanks on right path now

If someone sent an email to my professional address, if I had one, wanting contact details for my husband, I’d want to know why!
Even if you said something general about ‘family matters’ it would raise alarm bells & be consigned to the bin.

Be up front & explain the perceived relationship. You’re more likely to get a reply.

Frank had no children, but married iola, she had nephews contacted one, said he was the nephew, only asked for one photograph of my grandad, then he never replied again , which was a shame only wanted to see what my grandad looked like ,he has a brother brian , but don't know how to contact him , might have to let it go
