Make sure you take note of everything stated on the census. I found that one of my distant granparents was actually married before he married my grandmother and his first wife died. If that hadnt of happened i wouldnt be here now, so its fairly significant! |

I agree you might otherwise have put a child with the wrong mother and reseached a completely different tree. My great grandmother's morther died in Childbirth.The father remarried shortly after, but this was not found out until I got her birth cert, and is not mentioned on the 1881 census, as she was daughter of the head (father)but step daughter of the wife.
