My grandmother cannot be found at 1837, and I have discovered that she may have been born in Scotland (her father was a soldier, and may have been stationed there at the time)... any ideas where I should be looking to find a possible army-birth , circa 1920 in Scotland please?

This may help www(.)gro-scotland(.)gov(.)uk search for - Leaflet S1(in left hand column) which has info on their records for 1881 - 1959 Heather

Thank You both Ann and Heather... great minds think alike :) **UPDATE**Unfortunately, I don't think I can get the info I need there, as the page has redirected me to ScotlandsPeople website - this site only has births up until 1906 (I think)... and I have already tried there. Never mind... Thank you for the suggestion anyway :)

Carol... they do?? lol I have credits on 1837...guess I should know my subscriptions a lot better, huh?! Thank you so much for offering Carol - but you've just helped me by letting me know I can look up info on there I previously didn't know I could! I'm kicking myself... Thanks for the heads up. Though I'll admit I may be coming back here and asking you 'how?' if I can't find my way about 1837...lol. Keep your fingers crossed that I figure it all out - technophobe that I am :) Ann... thanks for the mail...and further info here - I'll say it again...you're an angel. Thanks

Cha cha cha On 1837online, log in as usual, then click on the overseas records link. There is one along the blue band at the top and another in a square in the main body of the page. Make sure the event is set to births then enter your info. Hope this helps

Carol... brilliantly explained ... thanks :) But.. I think this one is going to have to be set aside for more delving on another day - I can't find here at all. The biggest pain in all of this is that, after spending a small fortune trying to trace her, I know that there is a member of my family who has ALL the information I need - they just aren't giving... yet ;) And if that rellie ever reads this... DAVID! PLEASE... I want my grandma! lol

If you know the details Scotts origins (on origins.net) can find info, cost £8 but you get as much info as you would on birth cert, I have used it a few times for my scottish relatives, 1925 for a birth & 1956 for a death, but does take at least 10days for it to come back via email. Heather

Heather... Thank you... I may leave this for now and start bugging relatives who I know have the info... I mean...one little bit of info on a birth certificate isn't a lot to ask is it?!
