I've tried looking for Longhurst James and for all Longhursts aged 38 =/- a year. Nothing remotely likely. He must be mistranscribed or abroad - or perhaps in a mental institution, where they were only listed by initials! nell

I checked on all James' aged 38 born Bethnal Green - nothing in the index that looks like it could be a mistranscription of Longhurst and no zinc workers. Then I tried Jas - nothing. Then I tried Longhurst aged 38 born Bethnal Green - zilch. nell

What was his occupation? Is it possible he could be fighting in the Boer War? nell
