Maybe a silly question, but if someone's birth is announced in The Times (in 1987) does that mean that they were super rich, well known?? I've found one of the kids I used to babysit on there... and was just wondering as his sister's birth wasn't announced two years latter (and he wasn't born in London, but in Manchester). Chloe

It is up to the parents, annyone can have a BMD announcement made if they are willing to pay the going rate. Jennifer.

It's possible that the boy was considered more important as a male than the daughter, or that the proud parents were more keen on displaying news of the first child than the second. nell
