Sounds like this could be it Phthisis [ty'sis] Literally, means a wasting disease but almost invariably will mean pulmonary tuberculosis Any debilitating lung or throat affections; a severe cough; asthma Sue:-) |

Had a death cert for an ancestor stating cause of death as 'shitheses'or poss 'phitheses' (writing not too clear) Anyone with any ideas what this was in modern terms? |
