Bond, my dad had a Zephyr 6 - lol, I seem to remember it was pale blue with wings on the back.

I met OH when he had a Vespa scooter and then he progressed to a mini car.(thought of as a good catch)

Our first car as a couple was in 1970 and was an old Hillman Minx with leather interior and the number plate BKM7 - we bought it for £40 and sold it two years later for £40 - I bet the number plate is worth hundreds of thousands now :(

Well I am really old, as I was in my 30's in the 1960's. but

We had a Motor Cycle and Scooter shop, and boy did we learn from the youngsters that came in and frequented our shop The fashions, the jargon, and the mods and rockers. Never any trouble with the motorcyclists and scooter riders though.

All the accessories they used to put on their scooters. I can just remember all the things. Motorcyclist may have a transfer, but nothing elaborate.

I bought a sheepskin coat from one of the Reps that came in the shop, cost £19.00 (old money) he said I would still be wearing it to draw my pension, and by golly I am.

Oh the scooters - loved them even managed to cadge a lift on them sometimes just for the sheer thrill - no crash helmets though. I was definitely a mod and one funny memory I have is one new years eve just as midnight struck myself and my friend both dressed in all our mod gear were approached by two rockers boys. As we froze, one said to us "Happy new year girls, lets shake hands, sorry can't kiss a mod girl!!""
Me - I was just happy we didn't get thumped!

looks like a lot remember, i would go to the orchid in purley, and down the croydon suite. great band at the orchid ray McFay and one of the singers was the milky bar kid, he used to have every one on the floor sitting down doing the locamotion. Big george was the minder on the door ex guards and you did not want to mess with him, mind you a few tried. when i walkd home from brighton we had a huge hill to go up in coulsdon that must have taken us an hour it seamed to take forever the nearer home we were. i would not have mist those years for the world.the kids to day think they are revolutionists we have been there and done it

Yes, we had the best times didnt we? No computers or computer games so we were out every night. No car lifts from mum and dad so we walked every where. I can remember walking home from a dance one night in my thin dress and my boyfriends jacket on cos I was shivering walking in 3 inch heels in about 7 inches of snow.(BF must have been frozen :))

Wonderful times - dont envy the kids one bit today - we had the greatest time for youngsters ever and we appreciated every minute of it :)

my twin cousins and i would go to the orchid in purley, well to tell the truth we more or less lived there every night. ray Mc fAY AND HIS BAND. he played every tune out and had great singers it would be packed out friday and saturday, up stairs we had a private club at one time, boy what great days. big george the bouncer on the front door ex gaurds, great person but you never upset him. i think if they had a fight in the ballroom when everyone run you would find more youths/men hiding out in the lady's.

The 60's was definatley the best of times, I loved it.
I was a mod , used to go to The Flamingo club, 100 club , The Marquee, loved listening to Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames at the " Mingo ", also Long John Baldry, The Animals and the Kinks, to name just a few, come to think of it I still love listening to them now , and so does my 19 year old daughter ( I'm an older mum ) lol, she says she would loved to have lived through the sixties when I tell her stories about that era.
It surely was a great time .

Jean, I loved Long John Baldry, and I remember meeting the Kinks briefly at a dance hall in Norwich, got talking to them outside as they left and spent a good few minutes with them. I used to hitchhike to London to see a boyfriend working there and we stayed overnight at Elkie Brook's house once as she invited us back after a gig at Club 100 or Ronnie Scott's. They were definitely the best of times, and the kids these day s missed out, we didn't have to spend a fortune to go out and have a good night and we certainly didn't go out with the intention of getting blind drunk which seems to be the fashion these days.

My son has always been most impressed that I saw Jimi Hendrix live on stage in a little cellar club under a pub in Norwich before he became really big.

I lived in the fast lane all the time, on the brighton road just outsid hooley was the blue cafe that would get packed of a night time, i had a mini and sound system that would shake the car as it went along playing. i found a great girl back then and we went out for a few years but i cant find her after all the postings on site i have done, now i am very ill and i do not think i will get another chance to see her again, my wife for the last 40 years has tryed for me as well but life and people change, lets face it people would not be seen dead in most of the gear we wore back then. the thing that dose make me laugh is kids of today with their fashion think they invented the cloaths they wear. i lived in a little village but to go into croydon or purley and wimbldon clubs and dance halls was no problem for us all it was the way we were, get your pay friday go out all night again on saturday night then sunday. mum would then sub you till the next week, i would not ask dad. this was the best time of our generation.
