Have to go out and get a new washer/dryer in the next few days, can I have your recommendations please, would be used two or three times a week as only two of us.

Using more than usual to catch up - will be great to see laundry basket empty!

If you get a washer/dryer combined - DON'T get Ariston.
Lousy customer service and repair men we had were not very co-operative.

thanks, Marion and Hazel, have to dash out now to get his birthday gift and card, haven't been able to go out till now, except for a quick trip yesterday cos I was held up by the washing machine playing up. Just handrinsed and squeezed the stuff from yesterday - now it's dripping over the bath lol
Will check the site out later, but any more tips gratefully received.

Any more suggestions, we are going out to look at some stores today after he has shortlisted some washer dryers from the reviews and info on line.
Can think of better ways to spend a Saturday afternoon, and better people to spend it with too lol

Morning Liz,

i got a washer dryer 3 weeks ago, it was a hotpoint it was a good wash was pleased with it but it was a little noisy got them down the suspension wasnt right .. got to say, i replace it to the washer still a good wash

thanks jgee, will see what he comes up with from reviews on line and then compare with suggestions here. Lots of sales and special offers on at the mo but he is fairly methodical about sorting out the pros and cons etc. Might take him a day or two but we won't be smelly, have enough stuff to last us lol

take care, have a good day.

There's a Hotpoint WDL 540G on Comet Auction line, closing date Sunday, highest bid is £200 at the mo. Not sure he will buy from there tho, he likes to check what he buys first and doesn't like buying online.

Is this the one you have jgee?

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 17 Feb 2009 16:14

Got a Hotpoint, only a 1200 spin speed as realised the old one was 1000 so figured didn't need a much higher one, as that did the job and a friend who is a washing machine engineer told me the lower the spin speed the longer the machine should last!
Feel quite happy with it so far, have done a couple of loads and one more in now, will look like Wishee Washee's laundry when I have done as it's too damp to put anything outside so have it hanging round the room on the airer and and hangers from doorways to get everything finished off. I only use a dryer on thick things like towels etc.

Got it from Curry's so they delivered free and took the old one away too, also free, some places would have cost up to £30 for delivery and removal, and price wasn't too bad, £370 plus nearly a fiver for an allocated delivery slot, but worth that to know within three hours when it would arrive.
Thanks for all your help, shame I couldn't access the thread last week but had caught up with all the info before I had the aol problems.

Happy with it so far, let's see how well it performs on the bedlinen later today. Got all the undies and socks done so he won't run out now and all his work stuff too - it's a fairly easy machine to use once you get used to the different buttons etc.

Hi Sally, what with the computer giving us problems, well aol really so was off line for a week and then being without a washer for two weeks, it was a nightmare but happy now I have the new one, see earlier threads.

Hope all is well with you and yours.
Think I still owe you a reply to a pm from before the computer shut down - will try and get round to it soon.

nudging for someone who is asking about these appliances.

I am not as impressed as I thought I would be with the new machine, it doesn't dissolve powder which I like using, on wool wash and takes longer than the old one did. Would chose something different if I could take this one back!
