Hi Julia, glad you found the bargain one, wouldn't you have been peeved if you had paid £40 and then seen that one in Morrisons? That aisle was meant to be closed off just then eh?

Why not advertise your chair on Gumtree so someone can come and take it away, you can give it away or ask a couple of pounds which will go towards the other one or the petrol you used to look in Ikea first!

Enjoy your reading, and seeing all your books in the new bookcase.

That's the one problem with their specials at Lidl, they sell out very quickly, I do get some bargains but often find I am too late for others.

Hope you find something suitable soon

Thank you all for your suggestions. Purple, thanks for suggesting Lidl. I called in there this morning, but they hadn't any. So it is back to plan B, Ikea on Sunday morning.
Once again
Many Thanks

Have a look on Lidl for this week's current specials, they have a nice little three shelf unit there if they haven't sold out.

Have a look on Gumtree for your area, Julia, you might find a nice little secondhand one, even if you have to paint it.

If you're going to Ikea, then take a look at the range of bookcases called 'Billy' , I noticed they've recently brought the price down, perhaps because they've been doing the Billy range for years and it's a good standby, even though v basic.

Deana thanks. If I am not here Monday, I will still be there, or in hospital as usual, with my usual complaint.

Julia, that works, the bricks and planks, looks good too.
We did that once while waiting for a bookcase to be made.
OH was making it, nice and worth the wait.
Good luck in your search.

I bought one online from B&Q its plain pine that can be varnished or painted whatever finish you want .Although its a tall six box unit they did have various sizes and it wasnt too dear.always a consideration.

Your friendly neighbourhood Susan to the rescue

3 lengths of wood cut to size, painted white

as many bricks as it takes...painted white of course

failing that...embark on a woodworking course.

don't worry about thanking me.....I am full of ideas like that and love to share :-)))))

Julia - try some of the online stores - much easier to get it delivered. House of Bath, Scotts of Stow etc.
