thats fab! my mum and dad started keeping chickens by having rescue ones.....poor things...but they were eggsellent layers once they were healthy again! I did suggest to OH that we should get some, but he reckons the horrible neighbour would completely flip out, and given the threats he made over car parking......! enjpy!

Thank you !!!! I know they're going to be in a sorry state when they arrive but I'm looking forward to watching them blossom.

Poor little souls were heading for the slaughter house........the local rescue society is doing a rehoming day to rescue as many of them as possible.....we're taking 3 this time ........and if we get the extension on the run done in time we'll take another 3 on the next rehoming day xx

Ooh that's brilliant Muffy.

I keep fretting that the chickens on my fb farm might get a bit cramped.

Humane animal husbandry and optimum crop rotation methods are ruling my every waking thought at the moment. Good job I've got a week away soon, I need a break from facebook!

Oh I will ...thank you Uzzi.

If anyone lives in the Cambridgeshire area and fancies having a go.......there is a rescue day this Sunday.......they need to try and find homes for 2000 hens from 3 different farms....you have to book ahead and have a chat with the rescue people first though.

If anyone is able to give them a second chance...pm me and I'll send you the details.xx

Muffy
we got 3 ex battery hens in June one is looking beautiful now and really soft the other two are a bit scraggly still but they are eating out of our hands now.
They didnt take long to learn to use the ramp into their house and are good chucks and are in bed around 8.30pm so no dirty stop outs.

I give my neighbour and space eggs to keep them sweet but he says they dont bother them.
