scandalous or would you prefer regular "down to earth" (perhaps an agricultural labourer or two lol ;) ) ancestors? |

What do you mean by 'scandalous' Lesley? It may apply to my ag-labs! |

I enjoy the ordinary ones and the livelier ones but often feel more for the ones I know more about, which tends to be the more scandalous ones:) |

All depends on the case, SRS but I do have an ancestor who's brother was jailed for assaulting a woman in 1850. I had quite a rosy idea of the bloke before that but obviously I've had to reassess:) |

SRS I have been doing lookups on the Criminal register...I do wonder sometimes how to phrase it when I have found something quite serious ... it feels more like I am the bearer of 'bad news' than when it is something like larceny or sheep stealing etc. |

Yes, I think it would depend on how scandalous the case was. Someone who is a bit of a Jack the Lad is not in the same league as a murderers etc (however, you may get more details in newspapers) |

I see what you mean Rose, sheep stealing somehow doesn't sound so bad...that's a difficult one. People are probably hoping for some petty crime to tell their relatives, nothing so serious. That must be a shock. |

Serious crime like murder wouldn't sit well with me but a bit of naughtiness I can handle. |
