And then there was this.
Leaves me in tears every time I hear it:
You do something to me, something deep inside I'm hanging on the wire for a love I'll never find You do something wonderful then chase it all away Mixing my emotions that throws me back again Hanging on the wire, I'm waiting for the change I'm dancing through the fire, just to catch a flame an' feel real again
For everyone who's ever "danced through the fire" and managed to "catch the flame" - me too!

The song that converted me to Rock Music
You don't know how long I have wanted to touch your lips and hold you tight, oh You don't know how long I have waited and I was going to tell you tonight But the secret is still my own and my love for you is still unknown Alone

In the world of sentimental stuff, Lynda - my parents used to sing "When your old wedding ring was new" to each other at Chistmas.
Pardon me for being an old cynic, but perhaps the seasonal sweet sherry had something to do with it??

sniff Baby you'll come knocking on my front door Same old line you used to use before I said ya... well... what am I supposed to do I didnt know what I was getting into
So youve had a little trouble in town Now youre keeping some demons down Stop draggin my... Stop draggin my... Stop draggin my heart around
Its hard to think about what youve wanted Its hard to think about what youve lost This doesnt have to be the big get even This doesnt have to be anything at all
I know you really want to tell me good-bye I know you really want to be your own girl
Baby you could never look me in the eye Yeah you buckle with the weight of the words Stop draggin my... Stop draggin my... Stop draggin my heart around
Theres people running round loose in the world Aint got nothin better to do Than make a meal of some bright eyed kid You need someone looking after you
I know you really want to tell me goodbye I know you really want to be your own girl
Baby you could never look me in the eye Yeah you buckle with the weight of the words Stop draggin my... Stop draggin my... Stop draggin my heart around
Stop draggin my heart around

Here is the one for all my old girl friends
Each one has a story and well anyway.
Heres to them.
Gypsy, sittin' lookin' pretty The broken rose with laughin' eyes You're a mystery, always runnin' wild Like a child without a home You're always searching, searching for a feeling That it's easy come and easy go
Oh I'm sorry but it's true You're bringin' on the heartbreak Takin' all the best of me Oh can't you see? You got the best of me Whoah can't you see?
You're bringin' on the heartbreak Bringin' on the heartache You're bringin' on the heartbreak Bringin' on the heartache Can't you see?
Oh whoah You're such a secret, misty eyed and shady Lady how you hold the key Oh you're like a candle, your flame slowly fadin' Burnin' out and burnin' me
Can't you see? Just try and say to you
You're bringin' on the heartache Takin' all the best of me Oh can't you see? You got the best of me Whoah can't you see?
You're bringin' on the heartbreak Bringin' on the heartache You're bringin' on the heartbreak Bringin' on the heartache
Can't you see? Can't you see? No no no You got the best of me Oh can't you see? You got the best of me Whoah can't you see?
You're bringin' on the heartbreak Bringin' on the heartache You're bringin' on the heartbreak Bringin' on the heartache You're bringin' on the heartbreak Bringin' on the heartache You're bringin' on the heartbreak

..........long ago.........
Like the dust that settles all around me, I must find a new home. The ways and holes that used to give me shelter, Are all as one to me now. But I, I would search everywhere Just to hear your call, And walk upon stranger roads than this one In a world I used to know before. I miss you more.
Than the sun reflecting off my pillow, Bringing the warmth of new life. And the sounds that echoed all around me, I caught a glimpse of in the night. But now, now I've lost everything, I give to you my soul. The meaning of all that I believed before Escapes me in this world of none, no thing, no one.
And I would search everywhere Just to hear your call, And walk upon stranger roads than this one In a world I used to know before. For now I've lost everything, I give to you my soul. The meaning of all that I believed before Escapes me in this world of none, I miss you more.

and, on that subject, Darklord
lWhen I was seventeen It was a very good year It was a very good year for small town girls And soft summer nights Wed hide from the lights On the village green When I was seventeen
When I was twenty-one It was a very good year It was a very good year for city girls Who lived up the stair With all that perfumed hair And it came undone When I was twenty-one
When I was thirty-five It was a very good year It was a very good year for blue-blooded girls Of independent means Wed ride in limousines Their chauffeurs would drive When I was thirty-five
But now the days grow short Im in the autumn of the year And now I think of my life as vintage wine>from fine old kegs from the brim to the dregs And it poured sweet and clear It was a very good year
It was a mess of good years"
Been a long time since I rock 'n' rolled........

and a classic weepy for many ....
Danny Boy
Oh Danny Boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling. From glen to glen and down the mountain side. The summer's gone, and all the roses falling. 'Tis you, 'tis you must go, and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow, Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow. 'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow. Oh Danny Boy, oh Danny Boy, I love you so.
But when ye come and all the flowers are dying, And I am dead, as dead I well may be, Go out and find the place where I am lying, And kneel and say an Ave there for me.
And I will hear tho' soft your tread above me, And then my grave will warm and sweeter be. For you shall bend and tell me that you love me, And I will sleep in peace until you come to me.

If You're Not The One lyrics Songwriters: Bedingfield, Daniel;
If you're not the one, then why does my soul feel glad today? If you're not the one, then why does my hand fit yours this way? If you are not mine, then why does your heart return my call? If you you are not mine, would I have the strength to stand at all?
I never know what the future brings But I know you're here with me now We'll make it through and I hope You are the one I share my life with
I don't wanna run away but I can't take it, I don't understand If I'm not made for you, then why does my heart tell me that I am? Is there anyway that I can stay in your arms?
If I don't need you, then why am I crying on my bed? If I don't need you, then why does your name resound in my head? If you're not for me, then why does this distance name my life? If you're not for me, then why do I dream of you as my wife?
I don't know why you're so far away But I know that this much is true We'll make it through and I hope You are the one I share my life with
And I wish that you could be the one I die with And I pray that you're the one I build my home with I hope I love you all my life
I don't wanna run away but I can't take it, I don't understand If I'm not made for you, then why does my heart tell me that I am? Is there anyway that I can stay in your arms?
'Cause I miss your body and soul so strong That it takes my breath away And I breath you into my heart And I pray for the strength to stand today
'Cause I love you whether it's wrong or right And though I can't be with you tonight And though my heart is by your side
I don't wanna run away but I can't take it, I don't understand If I'm not made for you, then why does my heart tell me that I am? Is there anyway that I can stay in your arms?

Maz, I love Ruthie Henshall singing that:)
Songs quite often move me to tears, more because of what or who I associate them with rather than the song itself. Far too many to mention but like Suzian that Paul Weller song is one of them:)
