~`*`Jude`*`~ Report 14 Sep 2009 16:34

My sister's neighbour has a cat stuck up a very large fir tree, he's approx 40ft up, been there since yesterday afternoon atleast. My b i l saw it and told the neighbour.
The RSPCA say to put a bowl of fish food at the bottom its bound to come down for it. The fire brigade have been to check it out and say they can't do anything until tomorrow when they HOPE to have the right ladder!!
My sister has knocked on nearly everyone's door to find out who it belongs to, two couple's who have a cat are out so she's going to knock again in minute.
The way the tree's have grown has caused it to be a bigger prob because in certain places there are bigger drops or something, thats why they need a special ladder.
The cat keeps on crying and its upsetting to hear:o((

Whilst she was on the phone to RSPCA one of her cats bolted in the cat flap with a bird in her mouth, now this cat has NO TEETH, so it kept slidding out the side of her mouth all covered in spit...LOL.... sister finally managed to grab it and let it go......then whilst she was washing up a LEG appeared, quite a large spider leg!!! lol, her OH had to get it out, he washed it off first and then layed it on some kitchen roll to dry off....LOL LOL, how cute!!! It ran off into the shrubs:o))

Her son dropped off 6 washing machine loads of washing, she got 4 loads dry and is now ironing it all, bless her.....she's had an interesting day:o)

How upsetting for you all - and the poor cat. When our cats have been up trees, they seem to come down in the end, unharmed but a bit frightened.
Would a local tree surgeon help by doing his good deed for the day?

Oh Jude,,,, I am wetting myself... your poor sister, lol.... I know just how she feels... a spider has been trying to find leg room in my cleavage, lolol... no chance!! My poor Belle had no teeth, but still tried to catch almost until she died last year.

Oh... and I know what my son would be doing with 6 loads of washing, lololol

wmsl..... *wanders offstage giggling to self*

ps... Fire Brigade and RSPCA have to wait 72 hours before they can do anything... happened to me here a couple of years ago... had a thread up about it!! Bleddy creature legged it just as Fire Brigade arrived... and then Jethro stowed away on the fire tender, and they had to bring him back, lol!! xxxxx

Lol, my neighbour came round in a panic a couple of years back as her cat was up a very tall tree mewing piteously. ( What is it with cats??)

She wanted to know if I had a trampoline to put underneath in case the cat fell....just think of the cat pinging into space???!!!

Now, I love cats and have 2 cats of my own, and I told her to put food out, the cat would come down eventually by itself - which it did the next day. Needless to say, a few trees were chopped down shortly afterwards :((

Jude, they do make a lot of fuss when up a tree, but I have never known one stay up there. Lets hope it comes down before the fire brigade have to come out. I would think it would be looking for a drink first.

Could'nt get back earlier. OH messed up the puter!!!!

The cat apparently can walk about on a branch, but the next branch down is 3 or 4 ft down and it won't attempt to try at the moment.
The firebrigade won't call out for 48 hrs, sister got abit muddled her hubby explained:o))

~`*`Jude`*`~ Report 15 Sep 2009 09:36

Morning.....Cat is still up the tree. Everyone in the road has been notified by my sister and a couple of other neighbours, between them all they have also contacted everyone they can think of who might do a rescue job, including Gloucester rescue service, they told the neighbours not to stand under the tree as it would only upset the cat more (very true). Unfortunately Rooks and Magpies are attacking it now. The Fireman yesterday said they would definately be there today, so FINGERS CROSSED!!!

~`*`Jude`*`~ Report 15 Sep 2009 15:11

Yeyyyy the cat was rescued about half hr ago and it took 3 hrs. Sister said the brigade were brilliant. RSPCA were useless. They had to cut 2 branches down and the 2nd one they attached a weight to it with the intentions of the branch being lowered for the cat to jump to the bext branch, but the branch snapped and the cat had to cling onto the trunk and then made his was down backwards and....... wooooosh he was gone.
No one knows who he belongs to. A neighbour had already said if he needs any vets treatment she would pay for it:o))anyway he's down thats the main thing and he should'nt be injured.

It turned out to be quite a good training session for the men, most were very young.

Pleased to hear the cat is down, hope he is ok. We had a cat which kept coming to us to be fed, and was rather thin, he did not have a collar, so we took him to the vet, and he had an identity chip in his neck. He lived fairly near to us, so we were able to take him back.

Well that's one less life he has - hope he doesn't go climbing again, unless he was scared up the tree by a dog or something

Hope his owner was pleased to see him and he got well fed.
