Hi Muffy, all labours are different, I can only wish you one like all mine. All five of my babys came out with the waters, last one, twenty minutes,11 pounds, not a stich.

First one two hours, 81/2 lbs not a stich. All others similar.

Hope all goes well, Nina from filthy Sheffield

with Jamie, my waters didn't break at all, I woke up in labour but it stopped around lunchtime. when I got up and walked to the kitchen to wash up, I was nearly floored as it came back so hard. headed off to the hospital (this was 4 days before Xmas) and we were left alone as it was so busy. I was virtually pushing (we thought he was going to be born with the sac intact) when they suddenly went and he literally shot out facing sideways within about 2 minutes.
I wouldn't say it was any more or less painful than Charlotte - I managed with gas and air for both - but I was a bit disappointed that they did break at the last minute as it's quite unusual for babies to be born with the amniotic sac intact - would have been something to see!

Hayley,
My son was 'officially' premature - Thats why they didn't want to induce me sooner. He was born 4 weeks early. We knew he was big as I had had to have a couple of late scans, But nothing prepared us for his actual size. Some of the other babies in SCBU were the size of his leg!

Muffy,
I wasn't in too much pain either - My labour had started on the Saturday and then stopped midway through (literally!). I wasn't allowed home as I was 'too far gone' but they wouldn't induce me either as I as so early.
Eventually on the Tuesday, 10 minutes after the Dr had decided that I COULD go home - My waters broke. They eventually induced me on Thursday evening.

I was 23 hrs with the first........and the second .....which everyone assured me would be *like shelling peas* was 30 hrs.

My waters never broke naturally......and I've always wondered if the two things (longer labours and no broken waters) were connected. xx

Of my four , my waters only broke of their own accord with the last one and I wasn't in labour , they said it was something to do with high pressure ( the weather that day ) . I think seven of us where carted into hospital that morning and four ended up having cesarians . I was ok in the end ( I had heard a Dr whisper the word ) push came to shove and I was home five hours later.............lol

Pat my first baby spent the first 11 weeks of his life in SCBU and when they brought in big babies it was so funny to see the differance he was only 2lb 7 and 4lb 7 when he came home @ 11 weeks old

Gypsy Report 16 Sep 2009 23:09

Muffy,
My waters broke 2 days before I gave birth to my son. I don't think the labour was that bad - He was the easiest of the 3 even though he was much bigger at 9lb 5oz.
Unfortunatley though because I was without my waters for so long, He had an infection when he was born and spent a few days in the Special Care Unit. He was HUGE compared to the other babies!

No you're definately not alone Amanda with that lol.

Mine didn't even break at home.......not at all......soooooo annoying.....at least when they go pop you know it's game on.........

I'm told (though I don't know) that a *dry* labour is much harder and more painful......is this true? x
