I love Redcar. Almost as nice as Whitby:-) We make a point of having fish and chips there whenever we visit the UK. |

I think it is not necessarily the place (sorry pun not intended) that you buy the fish and chips but the fact that it is fresh when bought at the seaside (well usually). We had fantastic Haddock and chips at West Bay in Dorset last Friday in an old fashioned type chippy, really fresh and we saw him batter the fish, lovely! We too, some time ago have had fish and chips at Whitby - lovely. But the best we have ever had was from a shop at Anstruther, eaten out of the paper. |

Joy, I've seen long line-ups at the Magpie so we've never bothered. We had lovely fish and chips in a small cafe that had looked straight out of the 50's. Laminate tables, chrome chairs and plastic flowers. We had a big plate of fish and chips, peas, a plate of bread and butter and a pot of tea for a very reasonable price. Can't remember the name of the place but it was very good. |

Stray, my OH comes from Stockton on Tees. We have family in Stockton, near Yarm and in Guisborough. I love the north east of England. |
