Several years ago I bought a slow cooker. I actually managed to buy it with the inserts from Benson and Hedges ciggie's from what ever shop it was that redeemed them.
It was a wonderful one all singing all dancing one, not that I ever caught it singing or dancing. I did once catch it humming with a kind of popping sound. ( not really very tuneful ) Anyway it did me proud on those days I went to work and OH and me were just girlie and boyfriends * bashfully* but he did stay over. I would throw some concoction in there before work and hey presto food for when we got home.
This wonderful piece of kitchen ware moved threw 2 pubs with us and went away on 4 holidays ( I didn't care how big it was it was going in the motor home ).
The day came when we decided to leave the UK. *tears in eye* OH said that crockpot is too big, I said ( because I wasn't listening properly ) but it isn't cracked.
After I ducked the lovable swipe around the head, I whinged I didn't want to get rid of my slow cooker. OH consoled me, after explaining that it was a over large one for just the two of us, after all it would feed 4 with leftovers for the freezer. He said we will buy a new smaller one.

The day came and I packed up my all singing and dancing slow cooker back into it's original box with all instructions and recipe book, just as I had bought it 4years earlier, and handed it over to his Mum and sister.
I didn't dare show a tear as I thought they may laugh at me but anyway I was brave.

The day then came to buy a new one. We looked at one with a low, high, keep warm small thing.
I have to add that I knew although it was not the same I would grow to love it. OH did say that we wouldn't miss all the features of the old one as our circumstances had changed. Thats the one we took home and moved to Spain with us.
I will admit I did at first miss my old one, but very quickly I grew to love my new one. I couldn't have been without it.
It really didn't have the life span or the courage of it's predecessor and very slowly started to wear out. No longer could it cope with high ( without watching ) as it would burn, even on low it singed the edges of things.
THEN finally at the age of 5.5years it gave up and seriously burnt a bread pud and refused to work anymore.

I am now minus a slow cooker and the ***** of it is trying buying one in Spain, they don't seem to think they exist.
So any ideas or offers will be considered.

Oh to cap my heartache at my loss, the original is still going strong !

I had a vacuum cleaner like that, so know how you feel. *passes large box of tissues*

ps... I am sure they do them in Spain... I bought one in Cyprus, and that is sort of like Spain, isn't it?

Daff a few years ago when I converted others to the slow cooker method all came from the UK.
I have checked 3 of our major stores and NO slow cookers.

PS Cyprus is greekyfied ( I think ) and Spain is well Spanish ... so I am not sure that they are alike

lol..... I know, I know... I have family living in Madrid and Mohaca, and my son was born in Cyprus, lol....

but........... I bought my slow cooker in a small shop in Larnaca about 25 years ago... so I am sure there must be places in Spain, lolol!!

Well Aldi in Germany would have sold them, I'm sure... not a lot of help, that, is it?

Can someone not send you one out? What would the post and suchlike be?

Daff bless you, I am actually debating on who is still to arrive out here and will they have time to shop ( most of my friends come out in RV 's and motors homes so no weight restrictions )

Know how you feel without a slow cooker.I took one to Spain in the 1990's,and I did buy a new one in Continente as it was then.I'm surprised that Carrefours don't stock them.
could you have a look on Ebay to see if anyone is selling a good one and would deliver?
Maybe a smaller hardware shop may stock them instead of the big chains?

I will have a look at the larger Carrefours next week to see if I kind find one, I know they didn't used to but had hoped that somewhere would now ( without paying charges ! ) I will be lost without one as I use it all the time.

You know I am almost positive that I have seen one in Tenerife.

Perhaps you could copy the Moroccans? Buy a tagine, bury it (and its contents) in the warm earth - and wait.

It will cook, but slowly. But then that's what a slow cooker does, isn't it?

Or you could try www.exportappliances.com They do slow cookers, but you'd need to make an enquiry about the price with delivery
