I was told it's been raining solidly for 2 weeks in Spain, especially Mojacar, which is typical as I'm just about to go on holiday there. Never mind, we arrived to torrential rain last year at the same time and the next day it was torrential sunshine for the rest of our holiday. I'm serious about the slow cooker though, if you fancy a trip over those mountains to pick it up!

I hope you're right, Wen. I'm Barcelona-bound next week and rain I do not need!

Enjoy your holiday

Thanks Sue, you too. I think I might have a slow cooker on my hands - oh, well, I can chuck a few bits of seafood in it with a bit of sauce and and make a paella, or maybe a few eggs and veg and ole! - a Spanish omelette. By way, I went to see Leonard Cohen in Brighton last November on my own (husband can't stand him) and he was AMAZING!! I'm taking the Lenny teeshirt I bought to wear in Spain.

Uzzi If you live near Puerto De Mazarron there are two shops that sell Slow Cookers next to the Mercadonna Supermarket. Where are you?

suzian

suzian Report 24 Sep 2009 22:38

Funny that, Wen. I don't know an OH who can stand Cohen. Mine certainly couldn't.

I saw him at Newcastle City Hall way back in the 1970s, and have been one of the faithful ever since.

Talk not to me of tortilla.....

I did an "eat Spanish" night at home a while ago. I faithfully copied my Spanish Tapas recipe book and everything came out well - except the tortilla. Which didn't come out at all.

Recipe said "take six eggs" - I took six eggs

Recipe said "yada, yada, yada" - I did all of that stuff

Recipe said "now turn the frying pan over and the tortilla will slide onto the plate" - I turned the frying pan over. Tortilla did not slide onto the plate. Tortilla stuck firmly to the frying pan

Recipe said "In the unlikely event of the tortilla not sliding onto the plate, tap the inverted frying pan gently" - I tapped it gently, I tapped it less than gently, I brayed the thing with full force.

Tortilla still clung to the frying pan

I scraped out the tortilla with a spoon (or at least those bits of it that weren't welded to the frying pan). I threw the remnants of the six eggs and associated stuff into the bin. I attacked the frying pan with a box of brillo pads. I threw the frying pan, and six used brillo pads, into the bin.

If you know where I went wrong, please do tell me

Wendy if you check online for crock pot ( slow cooker ) bread pudding there are some great recipes. I used to use mine for just about everything casseroles, joints, soups, meatloaf, shepherds pie etc in fact the only thing I haven't worked out is roast potatoes and yorkshire puds. And yes I have even scrambled eggs in it before now !

Catchthecat

So far have done Carrafours, Aldis , Uppers.
Eroski is a journey for us ( having 2 dogs in the heat is like having kids 'cept you can leave them behind )
I hadn't thought of Media Mrkt. and we have 1 of those close by. We do have a shop which will order Argos stuff but you pay the shipping cost. I have been told that there is somewhere up Torrevieja way that does them with only a slight surcharge but that is a distance for us to go really ( well for just a slow cooker says OH )

Does Lidle's (sp) do electrical stuff ?

Thank you Uzzi for the recipe info, I didn't realise you could make so many different things in it.
