message from the wonderful brick-wall-bashing Chrissie H ...

" Tell Uggers, all ok for Richardsons Buildings, advert in Times selling building plot for houses, says...Richardsons Buildings, Hatfield St, Goswell St. (was dated 1819)
So he's ok with Cert. :-) bless him, Lol. "

as I keep telling her - she's a SUPERSTAR !!!

Hi Uggers there is the Richardson's Mews in Camden, London.
Its about a mile from Holborn & about 3 miles from Shoreditch.

This link gives info on the streets & buildings in the area.

I have just found a Richardson Close just off Haggerston road with all newly developed buildings. Could be a clue.

Sounds logical, but I bet you will stumble across something in a few months and you will question it again. I do!!

Uggers

Uggers Report 25 Sep 2009 22:12

Ah Joy thank you, I'd forgotten about that site - so that would place Hatfield Street and Richardsons Buildings both in Holborn district - nice:)))

Uggers

Uggers Report 25 Sep 2009 22:09

Thanks both:)

Sue, that subtlety must have been a mistake lol. That's not the right direction for St Luke's from Holborn but it definitely is RichardsONS Buildings from the death cert and a son's baptism.

Either way though if there is only one John Coker registered as dying in Mar qtr 1856 in the whole city, he's the right age and his death is 9 days before the burial and Haggerston is only a walk NE, it *has* to be him doesn't it?

I think that it is the same person and, perhaps, that the address changed.

I see two Hatfield Streets here:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/hitch/gendocs/lon-str.html#HOME

Hatfield Street, Christ Church, ST SAVIOUR [1862]
Hatfield Street, St Thomas, HOLBORN [1862]

Sue

Sue Report 25 Sep 2009 22:02

lol Uggers, that was subtle :-))
I can only find this: 1831

RICHARDS Buildings is in 1. Shoe Lane, Fleet Street, the third turning on the right hand side from St. Andrews Church. 2. Is in Cherry Tree Court, Golden Lane, a few houses on the right from it.

But no RichardSONS

LadyKira

LadyKira Report 25 Sep 2009 21:59

St Luke's is around the Old Street area and St Marys Haggerstone is a parish of Shoreditch around Haggerstone road. Hatfield street does not exist any more.

Thanks Sue - it's a bit of a necessity for those of us with London ancestors but I couldn't find Richardsons Buildings on it.

Sue

Sue Report 25 Sep 2009 21:44

Can't find the buildings on my old maps bit it may be worth looking here:

Uggers Report 25 Sep 2009 21:30

Thanks all, I think it must be him:)

Sue, I'd forgotten I now can use Ancestry to suss who the informant is - I'm sure it's not a daughter but I might be able to suss her out now:))

Julie

Julie Report 25 Sep 2009 21:24

A death cert is registered in the district the death took place so that can mean they are not buried in that district they will be buried in the district to where they lived.

So that could be why you have 2 different addresses

SueMaid Report 25 Sep 2009 21:24

Looking the informant up on the Census may give you a clue unless she has a very common name. I've been lucky with informants in that I've found out who daughters have married by their names on the certificates.
