Uggers...........unless there was another John Coker who died at more or less the same time as your one in more or less the same area , then he must be your chap . Are there other deaths at the same time with the same name ?

Amanda, there are four John Cokers born 1811-1817 on the 1851 in the City or East London and I know mine moved over in c1852.

Sue, I have never worked out who the informant was but she was present at the death....isn't a relation that I know of

I'm with Ladykira on this one Uggers.

I have a similar thing with my dad.

His place of death is different to his address.

Hello Ladykira:)

He died at the Richardons Buildings address and that was his address also according to the death cert and they lived there when their son was baptised a year earlier. Bit odd really. I do wonder if Richardsons Buildings may have been in Hatfield Street but haven't found anything googling yet. And then also you wouldn't call St Luke's and Haggerston the same place...

I have a couple of ancestors who were obviously nursed at a rellies home and died there but lived elsewhere. Could that be the explanation. Is the informant an ancestor you know of?

Have you checked to see how many John Cokers are in that area on the 1851 cencus ? If your man is the only likely one in the area I would assume it is indeed the same chap .

Maybe one is place of death and one is his home address?

but I have a genealogical question.

I have the death certificate of a John Coker who died 8th Feb 1856 1 Richardsons Buildings, St Lukes, London aged 43.

On Ancestry, there is a John Coker buried at not far off St Mary Haggerston 17th Feb 1856 aged 43 but his address is given as Hatfield Street.

There's only one John Coker dying in London in March qtr 1856 so it has to be the same bloke doesn't it?
