Do you mean you have got an email asking for your bank details ?

If so, just ignore & delete it, it doesnt mean your email account has been hacked into.

Delete it.
Ignore any future incoming e.mails of this sort. Once you've opened one, they won't leave you alone.

Is it possible you can raise the level of security on your incoming e.mails, ie SPAM filter?

Ive just seen the responses to this thread :o((

Ive seen plenty of people on here worry about emails especially those gulliable or vunerable who think the email is real.

Ive seen plenty of people who post warnings on here, & have been worried that their email or accounts been hacked who just need reassurance that its not the case.

For a moment I thought you were one of the above & Im sorry now I responded to what you say is a joke.

Next time youre in a flap and post something half confusing, dont expect any help - Ive heard the story "The boy who cried wolf".

Bearing in mind that there have been a few posts on GR recently, about e.mail scammings......I didn't realise you were joking, Dizzi.
It's surprising how many people fall for these things.
My parents, for example, are under constant pleading from me to ignore those letters that come through the post telling them they've won thousands of pounds etc, because they can't believe people would 'go to all that trouble' if it wasn't true!!

Dizzi - I got the joke as well!

My mum died in 1994. She was so trusting! She got one of these letters telling her that she had won a prize; the prizes varied from a large sum of money down to a bracelet. The ONLY reason she didn't reply was that the letter stated that she had to be under 65 years old to claim!

Mum also got a phone call from a creepy man. She obviously sounded too old for his purpose and he asked for her daughter's phone number and she GAVE him MY number....arrggh.

This bloke phoned me and in seconds I realised he was dodgy and put the phone down, sharpish. I told mum never to pass on anyone else's number; she said 'Well, how did he know I had a daughter'. Guesswork, I said.

Bless the darling; I found out she was phoning all these competition lines. She stopped when I told her the cost.

Luckily she lived in Sheltered Accomodation so the door knockers couldn't get to her easily.

What a load of old tosh Gwen, you are overwhelmed with your own importance to me, and no that doesnt bother me either, but insinuating I'm replying to your post on your thread is because I dont like you does irritate me somewhat as we are on a forum, where fee paying members can post on any thread and give their opinion.

Which I did on my first post, politely trying to help as Karen did, yet you still addressed your post after just to me, and you never accused Karen of not liking you despite her giving a similer response.

Telling people I dont like you if I do express an opinion on one of your threads is almost saying that I am bullying / stalking / attacking you everytime I post on one of your threads, (Ive had this crap from another member recently as well ) and as that is totally untrue I ask you to stop spouting such accusations as they are wearing very thin.

With all due respect Carol, two of us thought Gwen was in genuine worry mode and tried to reassure her.

Quite a few of Gwens posts / threads can be confusing for many people, and although i know its not always Gwens fault, threads such as this one which have the words

Followed by a mish mash of a post unique to Gwen, mislead at least 2 of us on here, two of us who gave good advice only to find it was a joke with the signing off at 00:08am

I find it just a bit insulting to be deliberately mislead & laughed at for not realizing it was a joke (which in the context of the first sentence is not funny at all).

So pardon me for not bothering to help the next time Gwen is in difficulty, as i wont know if it is genuine or a joke to cheer up the board.

I'm off to work in the real world.

Sorry Carol but it looks like a helpful and fair enough post to me.... I think you're being very unfair there tbh.

My elderly friend was duped by a phone banking scam...her bank recognised it as one which has been used on many of their elderly customers...some to the tune of thousands.... the calls are still coming, even though the police and bank are trying to find the source. We are most of us here savvy enough to recognise them...not everyone is...
