I love the "links in our chain" - that's why I love this -

I saw behind me those who had gone and before me those who were to come,
I looked back and saw my father and his father and all our fathers
and in front to see my son and his son and the sons upon sons and beyond,
And their eyes were my eyes.
As I felt, so they felt, and were to feel, as then, so now,
as tomorrow and for ever.
Then I was not afraid, for I was in a long line
that had no beginning, and no end,
and the hand of his father grasped my fathers hand,
and his was in mine, and my unborn son took my right hand
and all up and down the line that stretched from time that was,
to time that is, and is not yet,
raised their hands to show the link.

PS I feel I'm getting a little maudlin:-))

AB.........if flower arranging isn't an arty craft then what is it ?......lol

Me.....I just bung them in a vase and hope for the best......lol........but I can't stop myself from gathering beech nut husks and fir cones with the intention of "arranging " them......lol

We used to go on holidays that always involved looking for stones , Dad dragged us up hill and down dale in search of minerals , we had such fun.....lol
Every beach was a stony one and when ever we walk our dogs now on the beach my eyes are fixed to the floor always seeking Carnelians , we have his old tumbler so can now polish the ones we find .
Oddly my Granddaughter ( who was born the month after Dad died )always asks for the stones to play with ......links in the chain : ))

I don't know AB. I read it once and it was signed "anonymous". I love it and I've put it in a scrapbook album I've made with all the old photos.

Edit - it's beautiful isn't it, Claire

SueMaid , my dear , such beautiful words !! I hadn't heard that one before . Thank you : )) ..........there is nothing wrong with feeling maudlin ( could I be so bold as to suggest that if you feel the need for a good howl , then a tablecloth over the head is a wonderful thing ).
