Very often a birth was registered, then the child died, and a later child was given the same name. Could this be possible in your case? (In one branch of my tree, a few of them tried THREE times to get the name they wanted). |

It's quite common for a child to be reregistered after the parents marry. The later registration will probably have an odd page number starting with M, J, S or D and then 2 digits indicating a year. This refers to the quarter and year the birth actually took place. |

My dad is in the register 4 times, (5 if you include the registration crossed out as the poor registrar got confused! LOL) , with two different surnames at two different dates -each time it's handwritten at the bottom of the page. |
