I was stopped in the shopping centre on my way home, a stand for Christian Aid, very nice young man asked me if I would commit to signing up to give £6 a month ( 20p a day) . It isn't a lot, but like most I am in a fairly precarious financial position and feel just can't give more than I already try to over a year, at least not yet. |

I don't feel guilty . I won't do direct debits for my own bills , let alone a charity ............ I'd much rather drop some coins in a box if I feel like it . |

Never sign up on the street or at door. Ask for details to be sent to you so you can check them before signing for anything. |

Most of these people doing this are paid on a commision basis, and it is (In my opinion) wrong to do this as it leeches money from the Charities Concerned,so they can pay the exceeedingly High Salaries of the top people running them.**M**. |

Not a bit Rose. I was stopped once and when I made the excuse that I didn't have my details with me they said they would walk up to the bank with me so I could get them. They were told in no uncertain terms to bog off |

I think it is counterproductive also when you get the pre printed charity forms that have boxes to tick for set amounts... |

Did you know, by law, 'chuggers' are only allowed to take 3 paces towards you (if you're walking away), otherwise they can be acccused of harrassing you! |

I know some one ( No names no pack drill) he is married with four children who works full time for a Charity at a very lucrative salary, plus a very nice car and a people carrier for his wife to use, all curtosy of the charity.needless to say I only give to Local Charities,Not the one he works for. Its no longer Charity as used to be known, but big Business, and time these Leeches were ferreted out and the money saved used for its main intention.**M**. |
