Did anyone else have a name in mind for their child until the hormones kicked in towards the end of the pregnancy? Then changed your mind completely?

My eldest was supposed to be Kate and my youngest Cerys until month 8 both times ......I still like both names but the ones they actually have suit them much better xx

kind of! H was going to be Nathan if she was a boy. She wasn't, but when I found out I was pregnant again, OH said "nathan for a boy?" and I said, "nah, I've gone off that", then found out I was having a boy. I reckon that I "knew" each time, so agreed to a name that didn't work for H cos I knew she was a girl, and then wouldn't agree to it for O cos I knew he was a boy!

I wanted to call my 1st child Christopher, and my 2nd Michael. The hormones kicked in - and I gave birth to girls!

Our boys name was carved in stone both times.......Alex......and we to this day haven't wavered.....not that there WILL be anymore now of course lol xx

Yep.....My boy was going to be Stephen Benjamin, but I think if he was a girl I would have stuck with Hannah Victoria. :))

Edit....ops wrong way round...Benjamin Stephen. I still have my dairy for the due date saying Hannah or Ben due :))) And before the boy name we were thinking of Jack, then my neighbour had a boy and called him Jack, so we dropped that name lol

Lol ...Mamiddau.....my third child would have been a Nathan but was a girl so obviously didn't have the name . Another one came along 18 months later and I'd gone right off Nathan and decided on Milo if it was a boy . Another girl was born......now she accuses me of going to give her a " dogs " name if she was a boy as we have a dog named Milo now........lol

I bet my son wishes I hadn't given him Merlin as one of his middle names.......sniggers...........lol

I think my ex had the hormone problem!!
If it was a boy, he wanted to call the baby Django!
Though I think Django Reinhardt a fantastic guitarist, explaining that 'D' is for Django seemed a bit difficult.
Fortunately I had 2 girls!

My hormones behaved perfectly :o)
I wanted to call the first after an arabian 'Juliet' character - so got away with it.
The fact that a female terrorist - who actually hurt no-one and impressed me a lot - had the same name was irrelevant - honest!!!!

My first baby was going to be Matthew but it didn't suit her.

My second was going to be...I just can't remember!

Number three was going to be James or Geraldine.

When SHE was born I went off Geraldine and to this day she can't imagine why I liked it!

Catherine Zeta Jones had a girl called Carys shortly before I gave birth to youngest.......hence the veto.......just remembered that when I read your post Suzy lol xx

With my eldest daughter my husband did not like any of the names I did. He insisted on her being named Elizabeth or K****. I didn't like Elizabeth!
My second daughter if hubby had had his way would have been Elizabth agan but I refused and named (with Health Visitor) her when he was at work one day - She was a week old by this time!!
My son was alwys ging to have the name he has - It's my hubby's middle name.

I was supposed to be called Teresa - But my dad wasn't having any of it! lol

LOL Muffy, the thing is they moved away when the baby was 6 months old so Jack wouldn't have been a problem. But looking at him the name we gave him suits him down to the ground. :)) xx

Daughter was actually called Grace for the first couple of days but it just did'nt suit her, changed to the name of her great grandmother and glad we did, God love her there is nothing graceful about her.

My parents didn't have a name for me (I was 6 weeks premature).
As I wasn't expected to live, a Catholic nurse took it upon herself to name me Olivia (baptism in the sink etc).
Mum was so infuriated at her gall that she sent dad out to register me. The only 'appropriate' name she could come up with in her fury was that of my grandmother's little sister who died aged 4!

i had so many names for littleman but his dad veto'd every single one. they were to weird he said haha

I wanted to call my oldest if he was a boy which he was....Dylan or Byron so I could say I was reading either of the one I choose at the time to sound intelligent....or if he was a girl he was going to be called Emma after my Gran he wasnt call any of these name but he has mostly been called Byron as a nick name....

second was Jack or Victoria and is neither but mum kept saying wont be long before our Jack or Vera is here....hmmm


Princess was always going to be her name ...only chose a boys name just incase whilst in the deliverly room..Adam

A nurse chose mine as I wasnt a boy my mum couldnt be bothered..

Ahhh! One good reason for naming children after Fathers, Grandfathers, Mothers and Grandmothers....all them there hormones would then have nought to do with it.

We were going to call our son Simon - hubby agreed too - but about 3 weeks before he was born, I changed my mind and we called him something else. Years later Hubby swears blind that he didn't agree to the name Simon as he didn't like it, and that it was just me who liked it. I keep telling him that he did agree at the time - he's just got a bad memory! LOL

My first was going to be called Kirsty if it was a girl, as was my second. Both boys.

Third was a girl, 12 years after my second son and I called her something entirely different..... 15 years later, now affectionately known as "lazy baggage". lol

I had a favourite uncle who had died overseas, Jack and I quite liked that. Unfortunately, at the time my surname was a name that would have made my son's name sound too much like Jack Rabbit, but I had another name I preferred which I got from my favourite romance novel, so he was named that.

I really liked Laken for a girl - didn't have any girls though. Oh well, maybe a future grand-daughter?
