I do buy my Xmas cards in the charity shops, usually ARC (arthritis), or the British Heart Foundation. I refuse to pay supermarket prices for bits of paper, whether or not they donate to charities or are made from recycled, they are still costing far too much for what they are.

I bought an umbrella from poundland when my old one gave up the ghost. Nice purple one it was.

Well it rained, and I needed to go to the corner shop for the milk, so up went the new brolly, slight breeze and it was inside out. Tried to straighten it out and one of the arms fell off, ripping a hole in it. It went in the next available bin, and I got wet.

Won't be doing that again.

BUT....tea-towels, 4 for a pound, imperial leather soap, the only one Hagar uses, three big ones for a pound. ten Duracell batteries for a pound, yeah I'm not proud. I'd rather pay one pound for ten duracells than go in Sainsbury's and buy four for £3.50.

Muffyxx Report 23 Oct 2009 19:29
