****MO***Rocking***Granny**** Report 3 Nov 2009 08:34

My parents were the same Mildred
Everything stopped for the 6 and 10 pm news
I never watch it now,but do read papers on the net
It was their lifeline ,as you say it stemmed from the war years and the radio
Then went to BBC,then ITV as well when that started
I used to get in trouble if I talked while it was on

One SUSPECTS one is getting old when they start to look forward to watching the main news...

......... One KNOWS they are old when they find fault about the content :o)))

________________-

There is some truth in this, joking aside.

My grandad, used to watch the news (then only BBC & ITV) religiously. I always had to be quiet whilst he was watching it. Apart from the Saturday wresteling, which he adored, the news was the most important times of the day.

I used to wonder why, but as an adult now, I realise him going through the war, the news was so important to families at the time (on the radio) most people tuned in for vital info. Old habits die hard, and dear old grandad just had to watch it just incase he missed something vital which was going on.

I now tune in severel times during the day, I have done since 9/11. Mostly through habit now to see whats going on in the world. The roles are now reversed, News interests me, & my kids cant think why :o)))

'imself was similarly incensed that it was headline news, especially that there was talk of a bidding war for photos of the child.

I'm even more incensed that people buy the papers and magazines that pay silly money for celeb photos.

And as for paying for exclusve rights to weddings etc - aren't they rich enough already? Some, I know, give the money to charity like Brad and Angela but most don't.

Actually his name is Kai not Kia, and I wish them all well with their little boy. I am not much interested in football or Wayne R. but saw a different side to Colleen when she was on a programme about handicapped children as her sister is handicapped. She was very nice with everyone at the hospital/home and didn't put on airs and graces. She has I believe raised a lot of money for the place where her sister is cared for.

LOL remember when MY first'un was born, we put the missis in the ambulance, and I followed it on me motorbike, saw her into the hospital only to be met by the matron saying, "go home now Father and ring up in the morning........."

different nowadays, they expect the dad to be there holding the expectant mums hand...........saying push push!!

instead of "go home you will be late for school!!LOL"

Agree with that. What about the couple taken hostage by pirates? Any reports on them today?

No...not a word.

Wayne Rooney becoming a dad is nothing unusual. Men do that every day. Where's the news in that?

We really are having an 'anti-media-hype' day today aren't we? lol
