Dear All

Hello

Would you say you are a good cook or a bad one?

Do you have a speciality?
Or is the kitchen a GR swear word?!

Take care

Best wishes

Bit of a mix.... I am known in the family as the best soupmaker..... and my pastry is lovely.... I don't make cakes, not since my children were small... but I made a mean madeira..... and fruitcake, but my Victoria sponges... well.... flat!!

I am a very good basic cook.... and like to experiment.... and then I will adapt some of the experiments over time until they are perfect for us, and quick and easy to make.

Love

Daff xxxx

Edit: My disasters when they happen are usually spectacularly disastrous, lol!!

I'm definitely a bad cook Elizabeth, because it is not something I enjoy doing :( I can make quite good cakes, but it is really not worth it for just two .

Dear Ladies

Hello

Thank you very much for your replies.

I make a pretty good bread loaf and experiment with different flours.

I can do good vegetable dishes.

But, me cakes are a disgrace!

I try and do a little home cooking and then mix it in with shop bought stuff for a small do. Hopefully no one notices! (Wishful thinking!)

Take care

Best wishes

I don't like cooking - but it seems I am quite a good one!
When my children were small, I used to make my own beefburgers, which they loved.
When the eldest went to school, she was offered a beefburger - thinking they'd be like mine, she eagerly bit into it - and threw up over the table!! she couldn't believe this 'pap' was a beefburger!

An 'instant' meal for me isn't a take away, it's a stir fry or (a family favourite). tune & rice with peas & corn. Instant and very healthy!

Like some of the other posters, I'm more of a plain cook, but seem to come up with soups and cakes with some success. Hate to say it, but my daughter far surpasses me - especially with Asian dishes! But she says you can't beat my roast capon at Xmas! (Praise indeed!)

Bad cook.
Speciality? Burnt (me or the food)
Was given a cookery book for Christmas from a second cousin I had traced, my work mates thought it was so funny. Hu she doesn't know you very well, was one comment I got.

Good when in the mood but not very often, in the kitchen you understand.

My OH does most of the cooking - good thing too or we'd starve!

I can do a good roast, a good fry up (don't do those very often but they are such a treat) and make lemon meringue pie. Oh and scrambled eggs.

Otherwise it's beans on toast and if he's really lucky beans on toast with an egg on.

LOL

I am a good cook . my casseroles are very tasty but vary each time as i put anything extra in that i have in the fridge at the time. Do a good Roast and family love my roast pots,.Make good cakes and sponges and a very good Dundee Cake, BUT I am absolutely lost on doing Wok stir fries ,cant seem to get them right, I get OH to do those instead , incidentally he is a very good cook too and makes the mince pies and sausage rolls at Christmas making his own pastry for them
