Guinevere Report 12 Dec 2009 06:51

Just to let you all know, we had an app with my lovely oncologist yesterday, and again I have been given the all clear, I'm almost back to my old self, the good days far outweigh the bad, and although a slow process, the healing and the legs are improving all the time.

It's been almost 12 months since my op, there have been times when I've almost wanted to give up, but with love and support from family and friends and my stubborn streak I didn't, and we got through the nightmare.

It took a lot to open up and tell you all about this awful cancer, some said I should have kept it to myself, and it 'wasn't appropriate for the boards of GR', or anywhere else, but I'm glad I told you, my reasons for telling you weren't for me to wallow in sympathy, and self pity, I wanted you to all be aware of this little known cancer, and the devestation it causes, both physically and emotionally.

Just how many of you had heard of Vulva Cancer, before I was diagnosed ? Only a handfull, now you all know, and have passed on what to check for and how to examine, to your friends and loved ones, and that to me makes me telling you worthwhile.

Years ago a diagnosis of Vulva Cancer was a death sentence, in some cases, it still is, I really have been one of the lucky ones, and each morning I open my eyes and smile, I'm still here, it's not beaten me.

I will always try to push this cancer into the spotlight, and those who say different, well, I hope to God, you or your loved ones are never diagnosed with it.

Remember ladies, not only monthly checks on your boobs, your vulvas too.

As always my love and thanks for all your support, and the kindness shown to me and my family, and especially to my lovely group of ladies.

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone, and a very happy and healthy new year, Life is very precious, make the very most of it

Best wishes and lots of love
Little Lynn xxxxxxxxxxxx

I am so pleased that you are getting on so well. It was a very brave thing you did, putting all the details on the boards and I for one am very grateful as I had never heard about it before, or since if it comes to that, other than on here.

I hope you and the family have a wonderful Christmas and that you continue to go from strength to strength.

I'm so very pleased for you, Lynn. Public awareness of any cancer is so important but little known cancers all the more so.

Best wishes for the future. Thank you Gwynne for posting this message.

Thank you for letting us know, Gwynne.

Lynn, it is sooooo good to hear you have won your fight with this... you fought on two counts, one to beat this dreadful disease, and two, to highlight the very intimate nature meant opening yourself to criticism at a time when you needed positivity and support. You were, and are, one of the bravest people I know.

I wish for you a loving, peaceful and healthy 2010, filled with the love, happiness and laughter you soooo deserve.

Loads of love

Love

I had certainly heard of this cancer Lynn, and always thought of it as the very worst of the cancers...for a woman.
The fear you must have felt on learning this I cannot even imagine.
You are one wonderful, brave woman darling, and I wish you all the love and luck in the world.
God Bless Lynn.
Your courage is amazing.

YES!!!!!!
What an amazing contrast to this time last year, you are blessed to have the good days, and we have all been blessed by learning about the issue (I am a nurse for 43 years and I was unaware), and educating others. Thank you for your willingness to be frank and open, for educating so many people, and no doubt contributing to the saving of lives. Ignore those who object to such a discussion, it took a frightened family's bravery to make the issue public.
God bless and keep you Lynn, we love you and wish nothing but the best of Christmases to your family, with a bright 2010 to follow.
Mary
