I LIKE being disagreed with lol......but then I'm a bit odd like that !!!!

I won't shirk from disagreeing with anyone........friend or foe........you can't be expected to see things in the same way as friends in real life let alone on here !!!!

If I was interested in a thread and I wanted to comment........I would........it's a public board after all !!!! xx

I dont agree with friends just for the sake of it, I gave my view on the school meals thread that was my opinion, however I do take on board others views not than just my own, there was sort of one the other week where I thought the first man walking on moon was essential, the information taken from experiments such as this is indispensable, but others disagreed thats fine...

That's the point though Joy, some do take it personally if you don't agree with them and think you are just out to cause trouble. (by you I dont' me YOU, it's the royal 'we')

It's when I do my best to put my opinion across politely and reasonably then get told I'm wumming that I give up and wonder why our ancestors ever fought wars to preserve freedom of speech lol

I love reading the threads on the boards and a good debate is brill. I have noticed sometimes though that it gets a bit personal so I don't post!

I agree with you completely Mildred. If you put a point of view on the board then you should expect a different one to be put forward too. We can't all be the same, its just not possible.

It's beyond me why some people get so uptight about someone offering a different opinion to theirs and taking it so personally, but again, we're all different.

But that difference should be respected in a debate, as should everyone's right to hold and voice our views without recrimination for not being the same. That's what debate is all about, that's how things are decided, by debating all points of view.

I might not like what some have to say, I might not agree with it, but I'd defend to the death their right to say it, and I expect the same from everyone else to be honest.

I like a good debate - on here as well as real life. I would hope I'm adult enough to accept that people have differing points of view and I have on occasion seen the other point of view and it's changed mine. What I can't stand on here or elsewhere is when the other person/s tries to make me feel stupid and insults my intelligence because I don't agree.

Do you like to put your own opinion across on the subject ??

We all have differing opinions, but a healthy debate I see as good board conversation.

The school dinner thread was a good debate, I had differing views to a good friend of mine but as adults we understood each other & never took offence :o))
and I thought the
GOVENMENT GRANT FOR FREE LAPTOP & INTERNET ACCESS thread was also good to start off with :o((

I don't expect people to follow my view & my view only & I feel other people shouldn't take umbrage if my view is different to theirs, & go off trying to make me look a baddie whilst they play their small violin.

Its also not a personal slur if I disagree with you over a subject.

Whats your take on debate on the board ?

I feel if its a subject Ive thoughts on I should able to put these points across. as long as I don't use the thread subject as a tool to "get" at someone.

Debate to your hearts content :o)))))
