Uggers......'or I should have done the other half in first cos he ain't doing so well'

Tell me about it!....my Oh is a pain in the proverbial.

I have given up for 8 months now. It was the amount of money I spent which made me give up.......To be honest......If it wasn't that in my mind....I would smoke again tomorrow.

I think one has to have something to take it's place......eating is not the answer.

Thankyou Lynda...lol I haven't been 'looked after' for years :)

A friend had hypnosis to try and give up smoking, it worked well for a few months, but working in an environment where lots smoked she found it hard to stay off them .

Lynda, I think you should set up a residential course for GR smokers to quit......then keep their money that they would have spent on cigarettes as payment. You could throw in the odd cake or pudding to keep them happy.

What I dont understand about you Uggs is that you seem to have a fairly hectic social life that involves numerous visits to places that do not allow smoking (by that I mean generally the pub - lol) so where exactly do you find you smoke the most?

If you cant smoke at the pub, at the cinema, library, restaurants etc. then the time and opporunity available to smoke is limited surely?

I think you need to expand your social life considerably to involve never being anywhere where smoking MIGHT BE allowed and thereby cutting out the opportunity to light up!

Keep sticking on the patches love, you'll get there in the end. :)))

Off for a fag now - enjoy your evening.

enough to drive someone out for a fag Lynda? lol

TeresaW Report 16 Jan 2010 19:04

That's the thing, seriously, you cannot nag someone into not smoking, it is a genuine addiction, and has a strong grip on some. We all know the harm it does, we all know we stink, we all know we shouldn't do it, we dont' even really WANT to do it, but the willpower to give up only comes with genuinely wanting to give up. If you don't want to do it, if you're not ready, then no amount of willpower or nagging will make you do it.

People who have never smoked, often don't understand what the addiction is, and how it can affect you. OK the effects of the withdrawal may not be as severe as alcohol or drugs, but they can drive you absolutely mad with the cravings....and that is when willpower is compromised.

Good for you, Bob - lots of people seem to manage it by will power alone.

Suzy, if that's one of the electric things that has smoke and everything, I quite like them - my mate has used one for a couple of years now.

Unfortunately I am on the lash tonight, so I don't fancy my chances

I have been looking into the e-cigarette's and I am tempted as you can smoke them anywhere, even on a plane :))

As for the stickers I can give myself one any time. lol
