My great grand father was shown on all his census returns to be a surgical instrument maker. Does anybody have any information on what this work would have entailed ? |

much the same as any tool maker I should imagine, though perhaps a little more intricate? He would be the one probably crafting steel to make the scalpels, tweezers, and other instruments used in operations. |

my husband's grandfather and greatgrandfather and some of their siblings were also surgical instrument makers, I don't have a lot of other info, but someone once suggested that the Cutlers livery company may have more info |
