Does anybody else do the Eddie Norbert competition. One of us counts the Eddie Stobarts we see on a journey and the other counts the Norbert Dentresangles (red lorries, white writing). The one who sees the greater number wins.

If you see a Prestons of Potto you win anyway.

Thank you Sharron I will start and look for the Norbert Dentwhatever the next time I have a drive down the motorway. I don't remember seeing one. As for the Prestons of Potto I couldn't work out for ages what the Potto meant and that it is actually a place ....but you live and learn-lol-jl

There is another little contest I have with my other half. It started when we were driving to London for so reason. On the A23 there are a couple of transport cafes. There was ND lorry parked outside one and, going a very long way back in my memory, I came out with" Avez vous un saucisson pour mon petit dejeuner?", because ND is a Belgian company and saucisson was the only breakfast food I could remember in French.

Since that day Norbert's breakfast has become much bigger. We each try to outdo the other with oeufs and stuff. On Sunday he goes to the shop on his biciclette to buy le Monde and a packet of Galoise.

Who says our schooldays are wasted?

Potto had a lovely pub which did the most wonderful salads imaginable! Don't know if it's still there though as I've not been that way in years.

Another nice fleet to look for and with names too are the 'Knights of Old' Blue livery, white writing, mainly seen on the M1

We always stop at transport cafes as the food is so much better and cheaper than service stations and the little chefs.

I have said if I wasn't doing the job I am [male domintated but there are more of us girls all the time] I would love to drive an hgv

There is one called something like Longshore Porterage Company that comes down from Scotland somewhere and the one that always fired my imagination was Seawheel.
