Hello everyone. <3 :-D

Rain, rain and more rain here but I've had a good couple of hours with retired colleagues.

I can't remember who said she'd never eat at D*bbies again but it all depends on the chef in any particular branch. One Dobbies chef cooked OH a lovely meal to order as he needed gluten-free - excellent customer care, but chef's changed. We've only ever had one dreadful lunch there, a while ago. Such a dire chef at the time; a shame because the restaurant staff are spot-on.

But they come and go regularly unless it's their own establishment so you take your chances.

We have given up visiting our nearby R*d*ss*on for the time being but we'll be back eventually because we like the ambience there, it's in a great riverside setting and we have been going since it opened. As a family we have had several celebrations (christening and birthday parties) there in the past too - always great with fab staff.

It is hard dragging OH (who needs gluten-free food) to places like Br*w*rs F*yre and B**feat** which friends and I are happy to meet and eat in. Alas, he has been spoiled by a local hotel where the current chef will cook him a gluten-free meal to order, yet that could change at any time.

Times they are a-changing though and while not a lot knew about gluten-free requirements ten, fifteen or more years ago, now it is much easier.

I said I'd had afternoon tea at Dobbies and wouldn't do it again. Terrible ambience, too big, too loud and overpriced. I prefer to use local independent cafes and shops as far as possible.
