What a sham Shirley...it’s nerve racking enough going in for surgery, very annoying after you asking re the iron situation etc.

Take care

Oh Shirley my heart goes out to you ?? I hope things go right for you now. The two question marks should be a hug for you.

Oh, Shirley! <3

Friend of my daughters, with kidney failure, was told he hadn't been given his full drug prescription for 8 weeks - which would explain his constant falling asleep, and being unable to work!
He was so upset by his being so unwell, he got a rescue dog in the hope it would 'revitalise' him. It did - the dog has an amazing home now, and now the lad's on the correct drugs, he can work and come home to his 'bestest' friend.

What a fiasco, Shirley! It's similar to the many screw ups K's doctor made a few years back which I had to sort out, lost referrals and such.

So much inefficiency that can be at best annoying and at worst, dangerous.

I hope you can get your iron levels up and get your op done soon, Shirley. Try drinking orange juice with meals as it apparently helps your body absorb iron from your food.

Poor you Shirley. It must be frustrating and upsetting when you have got yourself all psyched up for the op. I hope they now make you a priority. Thinking of you <3

Thanks Florence

I had a message left on the answerphone on Tuesday , that I picked after I got back from the hospital ,to ring docs as they had a message for me

It was in relation to a urine sample I took in last week as I thought I had an infection
They did give me antibiotics but the hospital have come back and said yes and I need a different prescription

Soooo talking to reception she said is this in relation to the discharge letter dated 3rd September?
I said I don’t know anything about that and relayed my tale of woe!

The letter asked the doctor to test as to why my iron has dropped and prescribe if necessary
No one contacted me from them either

I wasn’t told to contact my GP it was the hospital who supposedly was going to advise me of the next step

All in all a big ????? up

Oh my, how very frustrating.
I definitely would complain. But why hasn't your GP been in touch?
Recently the day after I had seen my surgeon, the hospital rang to say a prescription for iron tabs was sent to my Gp.Just to keep my levels topped up before surgery as they were the bottom end of normal.

This is just so unacceptable for you. Really they should have you in immediately for an iron transfusion and make you a priority.
Cant imagine how you are feeling, but if they did that to me, I would be extremely upset and very down.
Hugs to you and hope it gets sorted out.

Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 9 Oct 2019 13:23

I haven’t taken anything
At the last cancellation I was told to have more blood tests which I did before I left the hospital and was told they will look at the results and then decide whether I need to have iron tablets or a better option,an iron infusion .They would let me know but in any case the surgeon was still willing to go ahead with the op

I then was met with complete nothing , no letter no reply to my weekly calls asking what was going on.It was always an answer phone anyway ,leave a message and we will get back to you They never did

They admit they screwed up and said I could write in to complain.
What’s the point was my response, what’s done or in my case not done isn’t going to alter it

So now too they are saying if my iron level doesn’t get to the norm then they could still go ahead but with a long list of possible consequences like stroke etc

Frightened the heeby jeebys out of me

Frustrating Shirley. did you not take any iron supplements after the last refual?

Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 9 Oct 2019 12:14

Just got back home

Would you believe it they cancelled again for the same reason of iron below the norm

They admit they mucked up and should have arranged for an iron infusion and for me to refer back to my doctor
No one followed up on it and the numerous phone calls I made asking what’s going on were ignored

I now have two appointments for iron infusions but if they don’t work then they may or may not decide to do it as long as I am aware of all implications of things that may be problem in doing surgery

I am not a happy bunny . :-(

Best wishes Shirley, I used to work in a private hospital and it was marvellous to watch the operation and seeing them walk in unaided when they came back for their checkup.
Love and hugs to you.
