My DNA has proven my link to the Welsh Heroine JEMIMA NICHOLAS who fought off the French at Pembrokeshire in 1797

I have a DNA match to a man who shares the original Jemima Fawr (Jemima The Great or Big Jemima) as a 5x Great Aunt through her brother Isaac

To say I'm chuffed is an understatement :-D :-D :-D

I have just finished an illustrated book on the history of Jemima's brother and his Seamen descendants for my Great Nephew. There was one very slight niggle with this. Slight, but a niggle nontheless!

So glad I can hand this book over with no qualms now that it proves my paper chase to Jemima. :-D :-D :-D

I just wish my Great Aunt was still alive to know everything about her Sea Captain Great Uncles and her 3x Great Aunt Jemima. She would have loved it all!

In the sheltered accommodation complex where she lived in her final years, they made her dress up in a Welsh lady costume and hat on St. David's day, because of the family legend of our link to Jemima.

I didn't have the technology or the skills when she was still with us sadly!

I'm off now to present The Seamen History to my lovely little Great Nephew who is eagerly waiting for it! He's the last in our branch to carry on the family name.

Another huge delight for me was the pleasure that "The Nicholas Seamen History" (descendants of Jemima's brother Isaac) has given to my Great Nephew and his family.

DNA is helpful.

It proved a link to a cousin, living just round the corner from me I never knew existed. It proved that the man named as my father -really was my father - even if he was a true rotter.

Amazing thing DNA & found loads of other cousins too and extended my family tree by hundreds now.
