Had heard nothing from the housing association since the emergency plumber came and had had more water through the ceiling after I had had a bath each time. I thought I might have been splashing over and adding to the problem so, today, I filled the bath and let it go, it came through the ceiling again so I rang the housing association.

The plumber came and had a proper look and it turns out that there were a couple of loose joints on the bog pan that he rectified. He flushed a few times and nothing came through the ceiling. That had caused a bit of sewage to lay on under the bathroom floor but the real problem was a split overflow pipe on the bath.

The job has now been booked in and the bath will probably have to come out to enable the job to be done AND the kitchen ceiling needs to come down.

How fortuitous that I have never bought the house.

Every cloud has a silver lining, and many ceilings have a lighter shade of taupe :-D

My ceiling has a brown lining it would appear!

Perhaps removing it is for the best...... :-S

I kind of hope they will build me another ceiling, but it might just be useful for getting the washing down to the kitchen.

Couldn't you claim it dripped all over the kitchen so you need a new one?? :-)

I have not long had that kitchen and a particularly bolshi decorator made an excellent job of decorating it, he took ages and it was lovely until they had to go into the wall and took all the tiles off, ripped the lining paper.

Now his lovely ceiling painting is going to be destroyed.

Twas on a Monday morning

The Gas-Man came to call;

The gas tap wouldn't turn - I wasn't getting gas at all.

He tore out all the skirting boards

To try and find the main,

And I had to call a Carpenter to put them back again.

'Twas on a Tuesday morning

The Carpenter came round;

He hammered and he chiselled and he said: 'Look what I've found!

Your joists are full of dry-rot

But I'll put it all to rights.'

Then he nailed right through a cable and out went all the lights.

'Twas on a Wednesday morning

The Electrician came;

He called me 'Mr Sanderson' (which isn't quite my name).

He couldn't reach the fuse box

Without standing on the bin

And his foot went through a window - so I called a Glazier in.

Twas on a Thursday morning

The Glazier came along,

With his blow-torch and his putty and his merry Glazier's song;

He put another pane in -

It took no time at all -

But I had to get a Painter in to come and paint the wall.

Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do!



'Twas on a Friday morning

The Painter made a start;

With undercoats and overcoats he painted every part,

Every nook and every cranny,

But I found when he was gone

He'd painted over the gas tap and I couldn't turn it on!

Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do!



On Saturday and Sunday they do no work at all:

So, we were up early for the plumber and he turned up as expected.

Out came the bath and we DID have a dead rat under it.

He has gone now because the housing association won't let hi carry on until the rat catcher has been. I have no rats for him to catch, we dealt with the one we had and it died under the bath.

The plumber took the rat away with him and now the house only smells of sh*t.

Always look on the bright side!

At least you now have an RR to your name!!

I don't miss that rat though!
