You really need to get yourself straightened out. ;-)

Allan

Allan Report 10 May 2021 21:40

I'm trying to remember what this thread was about, but I have a memory as bad as a fortnight, and that's too weak :-(

For what it's worth I am known as a corkscrew conversationalist :-D

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 10 May 2021 12:10

We have nudged Allan to one side. :-D :-D :-D

Wait until he wakes and sees how his thread has been commandeered ..... skedaddling out of sight, as I write. ;-) :-D

nameslessone

nameslessone Report 10 May 2021 11:55

I think there has been a lot of twists and turns in this thread. ;-)

I love accents, ZZzzz, so I think that's a shame.

Only have one born Newcastle grandchild and she is not at all broad-speaking but her parents (my son is one) aren't either. I have yet to hear her even say 'aye' instead of 'yes'. :-S

ZZzzz

ZZzzz Report 10 May 2021 11:22

My Mum is from Newcastle but alas no accent by the 50s, I think it was drummed out of her by the ATS and her in laws. :-|

Allan

Extremely subtle :-D :-D

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 9 May 2021 23:52

I think we all got it in your original post, Allan, but perhaps we were too subtle with our responses.

We are so used to you now. ;-) :-D

Allan

Allan Report 9 May 2021 23:45

Ahh! A breakthrough :-D

Now, go back to my original post and re-read it. I'm sure that there is a pun somewhere in there ;-)

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 9 May 2021 23:40

You have me in a dayze, Allan. :-D

Yes, I have heard the phrase 'a couple of days back'. My OH uses it but I have never done so.

You're right about keks, ZZzzz. It waa a word my Gran always used for trousers..

Bobtanian

Bobtanian Report 9 May 2021 23:33

Aw!! you are nothing but a weekling!

ZZzzz

ZZzzz Report 9 May 2021 22:34

I get your humour Allan, mine is like that. Keks is trousers I think

Allan

Allan Report 9 May 2021 21:53

Well it would seem that after 59 views only two people have seen the actual joke :-(

Sometimes my humour is too subtle ;-)

JoyLouise, have you never used the phrase "A couple of days back" instead of 'A couple of days ago' ?
