The older we get, the more technology we have to absorb. And the more technology in place means more chance of problems I think. |

The older we get we have to forget more and more to make room for all the new stuff ;-) |

So what happens, if like my dad, he doesn't have a smart phone? I dread to think how he would cope travelling by train and wanting to pay in cash and he refuses to have a contactless card for security reasons he says! |

Although our doctors use online prescriptions, they still have the option of the old paper system for those who can’t or won’t use the new system. Personally I am all for it, it is so much easier. |

I don't have a smart phone or a driving licence and the world is definitely moving more to these in all sorts of situations. |

I don’t have a smart phone so would want to keep my paper train tickets. But I do have an oyster for the London Tube. |

We are the same as Joan , we have no passports or D/licence we do have mobiles but not smart phones. Ours only do text and calls so when they send a link in a text we can't use it. |

Re the ID. I sold my car before Christmas as I was not driving it and we have a fairly good bus serice. I always hated driving and my OH was always the driver. Once he died I didn't feel the need to do something I hated. But I did renew my driving licence as (if I wanted to) I could still drive. But the reason I renewed it was for ID purposes. |

I don't have a smart phone, although OH does, but we are fairly modern (I suppose) in that we have computers, passports and driving licences. |

I think it will be worse when they do away with ticket offices which they are talking of doing tickets will then have to be picked up from some sort of machine at the station which some elderly people will find difficult. |

I’m also of your parents’ generation Florence. Most of my contemporaries use computers, iPads, iPhones etc. to a greater or lesser degree and I consider myself competent in that field. |

Well I have a bus pass for a couple of years with no problems, I needed to know what time I could use it from as I needed to use it at 09:00 so I had a look in a few places and nowhere had the info I was looking for so when I got on a bus today I asked the driver he said through gritted teeth that I can't use my bus pass before 09:30 I said ok thanks and maybe the next time you go shopping you should get some manners and respect. |

ZZzzz, those pensioners who board buses before 9.30 am in our area are known as twirlies because invariably they ask the bus driver, ‘Am I too early.’ :-D |

JoyLouise, they are here too, thankfully I'm not one of them because I get the bus at 10:00. |
