There was just a squawking outside a few minutes ago, the birds along the top of the arch were all of a flutter. A black cat was crawling along the side fence toward them - so I sent it packing.

Normally I would turn off my phone but wanted to hear the nose it made. Exactly the same noise as last Wednesday. Frightened the life out me then as it happened twice whilst I was driving. Thought something was wrong with the car until it went again at home.

I don’t understand why we are so far behind the times in the UK. Other countries have

had alerts for a long time and we only caught up in 2023. Better late than never I

suppose ;-)

My phone went off exactly 3pm. Sounded like a wet f+++ :-D :-D :-D

My phone and tabby both went off :-S :-D

My mobile obviously isn't compatible :-S

I remember when I was still living at parents house, left at 18, the air raid siren went off - freaked my mother out LOL. Apparently it used to be tested now and then.


Are you sure that was your phone Maddie? :-D

I remember the air raid siren being tested from time to time. Once I had left home I don’t think I heard it again. Got the lifeboat rockets instead.

I'm fairly sure that I remember the air raid sounding to alert firemen to rush to the fire station, when I was young, in the days before pagers.

A nearby town has a similar-sounding alarm at a set time on a weekly basis. It's a flood warning.
