It's strange how some parts of the tree seem to feel more personal than others when there may be people just as closely related. When I did a big fan chart a couple of years ago (copied the GR one onto A3 sized paper and added a few more generations outwards) I realised that there were gaps I'd not really thought about much. I've tried to even things out but my mother's side always seemed closer because I actually knew more of them in person. Then I discovered that it was my father's tree that gave me my medieval link so I've ended up with a huge tree sprouting from that one branch. Sue

think my mums side only because they are english and relatively easy to find, i will start on dads side when online records are availsable as travelling half way across the world would be a tad difficult right now!

My husband side, his parents sadly both died at a young age and he gets so excited when I find out anything interesting about either of his parent's family.

Yes, my fathers side. As you said I had a head start knowing so much about them. AND YET? they are causing me the most problems. Deanna X

Doing your family research do you feel more drawn or connected to one side than the other? If so is it because you know more about one side?
