LLC everyone needs contents insurance in case of fire, theft, as well as flooding all sorts of things covered but somany people find the money for expensive equipment and drink and smoke, then don't insure, and plead poverty so eveyone gives them stuff. These were council tenants and you can pay insurance in with your rent so why don't they do it? |

I can understand why people dont have insurance as some of them are really quite expensive and as nobody expects to get flooded they take their chances. But now that this has happened the next time we go to insure our property the premiums will go up yet again as we must be more of a risk now. |

Sorry Jeannette, smiled to myself at the thought of your cat diving off the windowsill into the water and piddling in it! Just a lighter moment at a time of sadness, tragedy and worry for everyone caught up in the floods. We have had people with houses flooded in Norwich, silly folk had no insurance so lost everything. The water's going down here now, but it's been replaced with strong winds so there'll probably be trees and branches to contend with tomorrow. At least the forecast looks a bit better. My cat eventually took the plunge and went out for a wee at 9 o'clock tonight! lol. |

My son lives in Hessle, Hull, where the man died. They've been lucky, the water flooded their gardens, but stopped inches from their door. Just rung him now to see if he is ok, suddenly he seems a long way from home! Fingers crossed that they don't have any more rain tonight. |

My son works in Sheffield city centre and lives in Elsecar on the outskirts of Barnsley. Saw the news about 8;30pm and tried to ring him - no luck. He rang me just after 10pm - it had taken him just over 6 hours to get home - usually takes about 30 minutes I think. Thank God he is OK. Says he wont even try to get into work tomorrow because apparently there is more rain to come and the water is still rising. My thoughts are with the family of the 13 year who drowned and with the family of the young man in Hull. Libby xx |

Not far from Sheffield - I live Doncaster. Finally stopped raining her at 10pm - started last night around same time. We nearly flooded. Parts of Doncaster are well under water. One major route into town has been closed. Should be dry here for 2 days now then more rain. Stay dry everyone |

You're sure to be relieved Sue,hope daughter's friends are safe. Lots of houses have no electrics or heating. Mau xx 2 years ago we came back from holiday in June and were curious to find the garage floor very wet. Learnt from neighbours that our road had been flooded by heavy rains and they had all been out sweeping water away. Thank God for good neighbours. But that was nothing compared to the danger to life that's so awful at the moment. Mau xx |

Hi Mau It is terrible isnt it..... We are lucky, we live high up in Derbyshire, but looking into the valley we now have a lake where the farmers field was. I feel so sorry for the people with flooded houses..... worry about the wildlife too. Glad your daughter is safe Sue.... Ria xxx |

I think so too. Her various friends are phoning worrying about her.....she hadn't told everybody that she was coming home for a long weekend. She's just phoned her Uni friends and they are fine though one got stopped by the police as he was wading waist deep through flood waters. He's now gone to stay in another part of the city with a friend. I am so glad she came home....I'd be worried sick. Sue |

never seen anything like it. The worst is still to come when teh waters run down into the rivers later which is likely to make them burst their banks |
